Oh, you thought this was a Q.Q thread about the state of the game? Nah. I like the game. I actually can't buy it. Digital River won't let me give SE my money. Digital River, Inc. is the third party that manages the Square-Enix Online Store.

For whatever reason, Digital River doesn't accept certain cards from certain banks, and I can't buy anything from the stores they manage. (This isn't the first one I've run into that they run.)

After a long e-mail exchange with Digital River's daft customer support, I am still nowhere. I've tried calling them, I've tried my bank, I've tried asking my ladyfriend (and, thus, ruining my surprise copy of the game for her in the process) to use her card. People I've seen online and off are having the same problems. Can we please do something about this? I've got buddies who want the CE and are giving up on it because you're only selling it from the store they can't buy it from!

I was told I could provide an "alternate payment," but they only accept credit cards. Can I get some PayPal action? Can I send a money order? Can I show up to Yoshida's house with $100 USD?

Square-Enix. I want to give you my money. Will you please allow me to give you my money?

(I've left out the details of my exchange with Digital River to get my point across. I've also left out the majority of my rage. I don't think the Internet would be able to hold it all...)

If you can't buy from SE's online store, have you tried any of the other stores (such as Amazon) if you're a US native? I don't know the EU/UK stores or I'd suggest those ;;.

I may have neglected to mention that I'm attempting to buy the Collector's Edition for PC, which is only available through the Square-Enix Online Store, apparently.

Yeah, you don't HAVE to preorder thru the SE site. plenty of other sites online sell ARR.

I hope you don't really care about the in-game items for your old 1.0 char...


to answer:
I guess give the code to friend was the true motivation, and friend only have PC + don't want to or no where you can borrow a PS3 for maybe 1 hour.

where I was thinking:
I think absolutely want to have an ARR CE for PC is weird...
it can't give standard-licenced 1.0 players new in-game items, while PS3 CE can give in-game items and with all the same physical items, too.
The only down part is it's $10 more than PC CE, but you also express happy to the $79 one on gamestop link... so that means you don't care about price.
then, the PS3 requirement. must have a PS3 or borrow a PS3 to play on PC.

oh well glad the gamestop provides the solution

I like gamerswag and happen to enjoy the franchise. I'll have the in-game items via my old CE, so I'll give the received codes to my galpal.

Did I miss something, or were you taking shots at the CE's (don't mind either way, I'm just not sure what you were getting at...)?
