Regional Data Centers and World Transfers - Clarification Please :)

I have carefully read through the post regarding the current world transfer process and I have been hearing alot of mixed information suggesting that we may be stuck on a legacy server after ARR launches. I would just like some official clarification if possible.

When ARR launches will legacy players be able to transfer from a legacy server to one of the new 2.0 servers? For example can I transfer my 1.0 character from Sargatanas to Goblin after the game launches?

1.0 characters will remain on the current set of Legacy Servers. The world transfer allows us to transfer between Legacy servers in order to determine which Data center suits us best. After that our 1.0 character will remain on those servers, at least for a while.

Yoshi-p mentioned in an earlier (live) letter that we will be able to transfer our 1.0 character to the new servers, but he wants to let new players settle in on those servers before allowing us to transfer to them.

No date has been announced when we will be able to do so though.

Do you have a link to the specific Live letter where he said this? Sorry for being a pain in the behind but I am just very skeptical with all the rumor and speculations circling and would rather hear it straight from an official source. In the mean time I will begin rewatching the last live letter to see if I can locate the info.

Yoshida: We are thinking around six months. We will be checking the data on our side and we will see how the players are mixing, where they are going, and how the server balances are. We may push that date forward depending on these factors.

Wish we had an option at start for legacy players to switch race/gender. I'm a little sick of my elezen but can't really abandon it when all classes are at 50 except for gladiator.

If you mean "the start" of ARR, we do get that.

Either for beta phase 4, or maybe not until early access or launch, SE will make it so when we next log in we can make any changes we want (name, race, tribe, sex, and all appearance options). Once we save it, that's what we'll look like going forward. All our pre-ARR levels and achievements will stay with us.

A couple of months later, they'll introduce a "barber" NPC that can change hair styles and maybe other appearance things, but not name/race/tribe/sex again.

Character re-creation is happening since some adjustments to how characters look have been made for :ARR, and may have effected current 1.0 characters looks. I.E i no longer have the same voice on my 1.0 in :ARR. It's really aggravating. I do believe i heard this is going to happen at the start of phase 4 since P4 = Open Beta, and OB will carry over to Early Access/Official Release.

As for the world Transfer:
If you want to play your 1.0 character, you have to choose a (Legacy) Server. At launch 1.0 characters will not be allowed on servers meant for new players. But new players can join (Legacy) Servers if they choose. And as you read above, tentatively 6 months after official release, (Legacy) server restrictions will be lifted, allowing anyone to migrate anywhere.

Transfer Applications will stop being accepted 07:59 PDT, July 15 (Monday), 2013
