This happened when my son played SWTOR at launch. I'd never seen anything like it, it did not happen with XI. It went on for a few weeks. I found it pretty appalling. Sometimes he could not get on for hours.
The only time there was a queued in 1.0 was when a new patch hit. The lag was really bad and it was a few min waiting to get in but once people saw the new patch they just log off and we never saw that many players online. Even when yoshi-p took over and it became P2P we had that issue people would just pay the game and log on to see the new patch lol.
