the aggresive icon when it comes to mob groups

Leaving the fact of loving or hating the aggro icon aside, I can't help but feel the screen is too clogged with icons when fighting an enemy swarm like you do in some leves.

I was thinking how big a blow this deals to game immersion and thought it'd be better for the aggro icon to only show when targetting a mob, similar to how in XI you needed to /check the enemy to know how strong it was.

I don't think any of us need to be aware of whether or not every single mob in the screen is aggresive or not all the time, so just knowing when your target it placed on it should work nicely for both kind of players, those who hate it and those who don't!

how does it break game immersion? still ppl getting this mixed up with something else. Immersion not being broken by the icon, but there is talk you can turn it off.

game immersion is how deeply involed in the game your playing. Only way to break immersion is a door bell.

There is also a toggle for names if your that worried about clutter. But also the icon is getting smaller. It will be no bigger then the campaine mob icon the lil sword next to mob names. no one complained about that.

I've never heard a developer say that. But saying they are planning to implement something like /aggroicon on and then /aggroicon off to be used each time I want to check on the enemy isn't very comforting. Specially after seeing the screenshot that shows they are planning to add the enemy's level to it.

Wrong. A clear example of game immersion is gripping your controller in fear of getting aggroed on your first trip to jeuno opposed to running mindlesly on XIV against a bunch of aggresive mobs in hope to lead them away from where you want to get by dying and respawning over and over again.

    Point being:
Its nice to know the level and aggresive status of a mob, but its pointless to have to stare at it all the time.
You only see a mob's HP bar when targetting it, there's a reason you don't see them floating above every mob's name. Its information that when not being used is useless but that within the right context (in that case, of battle) isn't.

Said this in the other thread, but hopefully they'll make 3 toggle options:

    /aggroicon 1 - Don't show icons/information
    /aggroicon 2 - Show icons/info when targetting your enemy
    /aggroicon 3 - Always show icons/info

    Should make most people happy.

FWIW most MMO's have the option to toggle HP bars on and off above the monsters heads.

LOL @ "how the pro and true adventurer plays", if you think punching yourself in the balls just for the hell of it is pro then sure, have a cookie.
