Really hate the regional server idea

There really is no pleasing some people...

SE puts all the servers in Japan. Those on the other side of the world will have lag - people moan about it.

SE gives everyone a choice where they want to go, by providing options all around the world - people moan about it.

Conclusion? People are going to whinge and moan regardless, so I'll take the whinging with a choice please (and thank you SE)

I'm loving the regional servers. I live in Ottawa, which is about a two hour drive to Montreal where the NA/EU servers are located. My ping to the NA/EU servers is about 20-30 ms. My ping to Japan is 200+ ms.

I had zero issues and everything felt super responsive.

In phase two when there was japan only servers during prime time I sometimes had packet loss, which made it really annoying when I was running dungeons.

They already know by making regional servers more than likely 80% of NA will go to NA servers, 90% of jp will move to jp servers and EU will be stuck in the middle.
They make you think you have a choice to stay or move but your own personal choice has no bearing since everyone around you is moving. In truth there is no choice because most people believe the lower lag is better for them.

It is not an illusion of choice, it is a choice which you make, and you alone. What you are talking about is a number of factors which are likely to influence your choice - but it is still your choice.

Doesn't bug me at all. Maybe now It'll be easier for me to find people in my time zone.
People always starts segregating themselves once we start playing anyway.

In 11 JP playes use to play with me all the time, they even sent me tells, inviting me. I loved playing with them. They were very pro and no nonsense.
But ever since FFXIV they have not.
Not a single time have any JP groups invited me, even when I tried to get in on their parties.
They specifically told me NO English.. No thank you.. Over and over.
Some of which were just very rude, most of which....

Use to be people didn't care about the language barrier and skill was enough.. Not so much anymore.
Unfortunate.

that is officially separating ppl by nation, just not spit it out.
dont tell me the crap that player can choose to stay in which server.
Squareenix already gave out the regional server, give out choice means you want ppl to choose.

why cannot just like FF11 and FF14 1.0? i think that is one of the biggest reasons i like this game, you can meet the ppl and play with the ppl all over the world.
i want to know some of the different culture, but not surround with mostly JP or NA ppl.

right now my old LS in 1.0 might split bcoz of it, since some ppl in eu some ppl in asian and few in NA. and my server is JP server, so most ppl in eu and NA cannot take the server with most population are JP.

this is really a stinky idea, honestly. Fans from FF11 and FF14 1.0 not deserve this bad idea.

1. People still get to choose which server they want to be on, so really, it's not a problem at all.

2. If your LS would actually split just because they want to be on different servers, then that's not due to SE having a "stinky" idea to implement regional servers. That's due to you being in a "stinky" LS that really isn't as close as you might have thought. My LS is waiting to see which server they want to be on, and we're all waiting together so that we can all be on it together. Ya dig?

I understand what you're saying, but do you realize you're arguing that SE should force everyone (or at least just your friends) to play on JP-based worlds?

The people in your LS who refuse to leave the JP-region data center (because of horrible pings to the NA-region data center?) are also making a choice to divide your LS, not just the ones who want to relocate.

Until the world can have or afford more direct Internet routes, even the small distances around the globe create a significant latency (ping time) to online gaming.

Side note: Content Finder will only link people of the same data center, according to Yoshida at E3 2013. (article link, last question).

I just dislike that Duty Finder is not cross data-center. But then I guess it would be impossible for ppl with different latency to play together. Still, it's sad that I will never get to play with JP people unless for some reason they join my NA server.
