    Concern about "Branching Classes"

Ok, I love this game. But there is an issue that I have been reminded of by an ls mate that concerned me the moment that we learned that Scholar was a job.

The fact that one class is a..."trunk", of several job "branches"...if you know what I mean. I.E. If you level up anarchist...then summoner and scholar will level up as well. If they plan to do this with every job, then when they finally do release new jobs, then after you do the unlocking quest...that job is automatically at the same level as the class you have for it...which would more than likely be maxed out already. And you'd be given all these new abilities that you would have little understanding of.

This might dramatically cut out game content, and learning the new jobs.

I dunno...what I'm trying to say is, even though this was how it was in 1.x, I kind of wish that every job would start at level 1 like it did in FFXI. I know this isn't FFXI, but I think it might really help. I was just ok with it in 1.x....but with them branching more than just 1 job to a class...you're basically leveling 3 things at once. Doesn't that seem kind of...bad?

Though I guess an alternative way to look at it would be like in WoW where you would level certain specs. Such as leveling a Druid and being able to go balance, resto or feral.

It just doesn't feel like that...like each job/class is it's own entity...not really part of the same.

*shrug* what do you guys think? Am I over thinking this? I'm just worried about endgame, and bring up 3 jobs at once...and what if they have plans to link more than 2 jobs to a class?

The thing is you looking at job as something you level when it's not. Jobs are level by storyline progression meaning you learn how to play the job by doing storyline. You unlock 5 jobs abilities which change the feel/role of the class. It's really not that hard to learn how to use 5 new abilities i don't see a issue there.

They be more and more class added to the game so there always be something new to level.

You also have to remember that the Job spell you get from quest is what change the overall feel of the class. Which mean when you do the job quest you learn about the role and how to play the job. You already learn how to play the class from level 1-50 all you need to do is unlock the spells to learn the role of the Job.

It's pretty simple and not hard at all and no i would dislike having a wow skill tree system. Even tho having 2+ jobs in one class is pretty much the skill tree system but done different.

Zenaku's grammar has actually come a long way for the past couple of years. He's done exceedingly well considering it itsn't his native language.

In this case, he's also right. A job isn't something that is so drastically different from the base class that it must be leveld on its own. Jobs are specialized roles for the classes, rather than totally separate entities that must be relearned from square one.

So really just looking at jobs as specialisations. I just wish the crafting classes were all 'jobs' from one or two base classes, so I didn't have to level them all up too!

Ya and when the cap goes up they be more Spell to learn by doing quest.

    It's like WoW

Warrior is the Class and the jobs are Arms,Fury,Protection

I really wish SE explain thing better so people can understand what there doing.

It's like if 6 month from now they release DRK for MRD then Darkknight job would be using a great Axe and that it. Meaning if you want to see dark knight use a Scythes they have to make a class that use Scythes then link that job to that class.
Which is why the armory system sucks.

Don't try to make sense of this system, people. Jobs were shoe-horned in over classes in 1.0 to make the game seem more "Final Fantasy-esque". There are serious longevity issues arising, and this thread outlines one of them.

It's also stupid that if a Monk picks up a staff-- a weapon Monks are traditionally trained to use to great effect-- they magically turn into a Conjurer for some reason.

For all the good Yoshi has done with XIV, not overhauling this hideous class/job/armory system amalgamation was a huge mistake. A new system should have been introduced that was designed from the ground up to fit the new game. Instead they just forced a square peg into a round hole.

One of my concerns is what happens after the level 50 cap gets raised? Do classes still get new abilities or only the jobs?
I just don't see how there can be such diversity between splitting classes like Summoner and Scholar in the difference of what, 5 abilities when all the other base abilities are still there? Do jobs still get Carbuncle? I don't see why they wouldn't if the base class could.

They've already said you lose carbuncle when you're on the job.. first case I can think of where you will lose (some) class abilities when you have the soul/job crystal equipped.

I think at this point we're just wildly speculating until we can actually try it out.. it'll give some in-sight into how future branch jobs may work though.
