March of the Lalafells - Community Event!

It was a lot of fun. I wish my computer was better, I'm sure I could never see more than a third of the total people at any given time.

I have a great shot of Denmo throwing himself off the bridge near Uldah, but no hosting site that won't make it really tiny. But it answers the age-old question; "If all your friends jumped off a bridge would you do it, too?" Yes, provided I was following Denmo!

^.^ I was overjoyed to be there, my dear lala-sweets! Doing my resident stalking duties, among other things!

I took a few screenshots, but I have yet to peruse them.

But I have an idea for another community event in the near future -- Hide-and-Seek!

I used to play Hide-and-Seek on FFXI with anyone who I could get to participate. It was very fun. The basic rules were:

1) Must turn off name display.
2) Must remain in x established zone(s)
3) Must try to blend in as an NPC (that is, don't do PC things)
4) The first person the seeker finds is the new seeker (I don't know how to adjust this for such a large crowd) (actually, read below for a suggestion of possibly adding more seekers)

I am not sure how to handle the discovery of hiding players. I would say use the /poke emote, but that would require targeting, which kind of defeats the purpose. In FFXI, we just asked the character if they were a PC who was hiding from them. Of course, sometimes this entails having conversations with NPCs on accident lol. I also don't know how best to keep track of all the players. Mayhaps by creating upwards of two linkshells for everyone to register to (this presuming the first one would be full fairly quickly)?

We could also increase the amount of seekers to accommodate the amount of players. And each seeker must find one player and said player takes their place as seeker type of thing.

*tilts head* It sounds like fun to me!

I also did a Scavenger-esque hunt once. This involved picking out a list of things to search for in the game and the first person to find them all would win some small/large/cute price. The major issue with this event would of course be the potential for cheating. But we can just throw mobs of lalafells at any would-be cheaters, if so.

Anyway, just thought I would pipe in with suggestions!

EDIT 2: I would love to use the whole of Limsa Lominsa as the zones for the Hide-And-Seek event. If anyone is even remotely interested, I'll start a new thread for it. Although I forgot, the clothing...the starter gear is pretty obvious. Hmmmmm. *tilts head* We can figure things out.

I really like your idea Hestern_Nestern, though can't have prizes till phase 4 (if things get saved in phase 4 that is).
I don't care about prizes though, the experience and fun is the reward.

or should be a website based long term game.

for example, I go to an unique tree and take a screen shot and post on the designated thread. People need to find that location and take the same shot. Then, that person has the right to make the next "where was I" question...

because active time hide and seek... ppl won't know what really happened, such as we just know someone found Denmo, but less detail on where he's hiding... and what if no one found denmo... he need to keep hiding. and ppl cheat...

@Deli Where's Deli as opposed to Where's Waldo? Please wear a red and white shirt, if you're going to be doing that! He he! I actually like your idea as well. I think both of our ideas could conceivably work, and I am willing to give my idea a shot at least once, in a show of faith for the community. ^_^

@Reuthryl I remember someone(s) making a comment and me laughing. I know Katamari Senpai was one such person. I was absolutely amused by the reactions. I think someone needs to be around at all times to protect Denmo from my vivacious hugs! ^_^ he he~ You did well.

@Alice Thank you Alice for the support. I shall create a thread then! Now, were you in support of the Hide and Seek or the Scavenger Hunt List thing-y? I noticed you mentioned prizes in your comment and thus I am asking for clarification. ^_^ And you're right, we don't need prizes! Just being one of many to collect all the items on the list first would be enough. It is all about having fun and bringing the community to the front of our gaming lives. We can like -- for the scavenger hunt -- try to get other players killed by passing mobs or something he he (I jest, I jest).

I'll stop clogging Denmo's beauteous thread with my event ideas. Thank you everyone for your warm hearths!

Interesting ideas. If only I knew more about the game's layout to really enact them. With not too many open world dungeons to explore and get lost in, it's kinda hard to find a place where a large group of people can do scavenger hunts and hide/seek.

Besides that, it'd be hell on earth to do judge competitions if 300+ people show up like they did last night!

So I think it'd be more enjoyable to keep these massive events as purely social, random stuff with lots of opportunity for screenshots and emote nonsense.


Or we could do a naked race. Hmmmmmmmmm

I am going to post up a thread right now. It doesn't have to be a successful event; it is merely a thought. I'm always interested in at least trying it once. As for purely social, random funness, I will make note in my thread starter that hilarity is allowed and cohesiveness discouraged. He he.

That said, I do not wish to overshadow any events that you have planned Denmo, so feel free to lay claim to a certain timeslot in my thread, if need be.
