large scale Fates , npc abduction FTW

OMG , mind blown , i hoped they would do these things , and they f*cking did it

lare scale Fate's were towns are attacked and if you failed to protect the npc's there gone , abducted and you need to free them in follow up fates so you can end up getting to a ghost town with no npc's in and you need to go save them , i hope they make it that shop/quest npc's can and will be abducted

Definitely reminiscent of besieged, so hopefully shop NPCs can be taken as well. Otherwise no one will really do the rescue part after the novelty wears off. Good chance Quest NPCs will be since they're making this a Quest Grind MMO lots of npcs in areas like that tend to offer kill quests.

Have to admit I was a bit surprised it was going to affect the game world this much.

Very GuildWars 2 style then, awesome. I really enjoyed the game while I played. Keeps things interesting for sure.

One thing I hated about Guildwars 2, I could be in the middle of buying something, then suddenly, "Rampage of bulls on the way!" and bam, destroys the goods cart I was buying stuff from. xD

One thing that concerns me about the way FATEs are set up.

Unless there's something I missed in that vid, or that is covered elsewhere, it seems that people who are higher level can seriously ruin the experience for others if they want.

They mention in the video that if you're too high level for the FATE and you participate, you don't get credit; that you have to level sync down if you want to get credit.

However, nothing stops you from going in and killing stuff anyway.

So, what's to stop someone who's just looking to troll others in-game from running in on their higher level class/job and one-shotting everything, purely to prevent others from being able to get a very good reward, if any?

I'd like to think I'm just being cynical, but having played MMOs as long as I have and seeing how some people - even in FFXI - will abuse game systems any way they can purely to annoy other players, I have no doubt people will do something like that, if given the opportunity.

Is there anything anyone knows of that would prevent such a thing from happening?

If they DARE capture Admiral Merlwyb... (which is extremely unlikely)... the Maelstrom shall burn the entire continent to get her back. True story.

But this is exciting news... I totally miss besieged and it was fun fighting to "liberate" Gadalar or Rujahdeen or the NPCs. Fun times.
