Skye didn't say that's what they ARE doing. She's just referencing the fact that if they overdo it, it could feel cheesy and outdated, which I think is a valid point.

Which is actually a totally wrong assumption. One of the things I like about Final Fantasy is that, even though each game is it's own story in it's own universe, there are elements within each one that exist in all other Final Fantasies that define them as part of the continuum of the entity. Nevertheless, my point is that if you pull too much or too closely defined items or characters from other Final Fantasies into another, it can just make it seem like a cheesy fan service.
