    Montréal is pretty far from a coast. Eastern NA, to be sure, but coastal?
    When we say east coast, we don't mean "it has beachfront property."

    Montreal is in quebec, a province that borders the Atlantic Ocean. Therefore it's reasonable to consider it part of the east cost. It's just north of new hampshire and vermont, both of which are considered to be on and near the east coast (respectively)
