Server for South-East Asia

Hi,
I just want to ask you guys that come from south-east asia like Singapore, Philippine, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong that which server will you join?

Because we are the minority players who want to play our beloved FFXIV but we cannot stand the high ping of US/EU server...

I asked my friend that we should join JP server to reduce ping but some of us don't agree because they afraid of "JP onry" players..but for me, I can't stand the lag of US/EU server. ( like 300-400 ping for me, but for JP server it's only 100+ )

I know I can reduce ping buy subscribe SSH tunneling service but it will cost us like 5$ more per month..and in total it will be a lot of money.

So if you are Asian who playing FFXIV, I just would like to know your opinion on server selection for JP or NA/EU.

The JP servers will not be used by Japanese players only. Take Australia for example... After testing the latency on both the NA/EU servers as well as the JP servers, they might conclude that they have a better ping/latency on the JP Servers then the NA/EU servers.

Take your time testing it out in the Beta phase and make your decision then.

I think the unofficial server for Oceanic/SEA are:
Legacy/Old Server : MASAMUNE (JP server)
New Server : TONBERRY (JP server) & ADAMANTOISE (NA server)

Not sure if there is a NA server..

The Japanese servers cover the SEA area. There will not only be JP players on them- especially on the legacy servers, which already have an established English speaking community.

A lot of the NA and even more EU are jumping ship, just as a lot of JP are jumping from NA back to JP region. It's like mutually-assured repatriation.

This is causing a lot of concern among Asian/Oceanic English speakers (like India, Singapore, Australia) that it will be difficult to find English-language people for group content. If SE agrees, they might consider officially labeling a new and a legacy world in Japan as "International". I think that faced with a choice of "Japan" or "North America/Europe", an English speaker would more likely choose the latter, despite horrible ping times.

Without evidence I'm inclined to disagree. People will stay on the same server to be with their friends unless all of their friends move. Established communities will tend to stay together.

A couple people posting to say they're switching servers is not evidence.
