    ARR in 3D!

    Has anyone heard from Yoshi and the devs about making ARR in 3D? I can't remember if anyone brought it up...

    Since it's going onto the PS3, it SOUNDS feasible. I'm not really in tune with 3D tech as far as computer monitors are concerned. Is it easy to go from 2D or 3D? Or does the game have to be developed with a 3D compatible engine? (has anyone seen a 2D filmed movie on a 3D TV? Or a 2D movie that was re-released in 3D? Quality isn't that great)

    Not that they couldn't do it in the future. An expansion could contain the data for 3d for the game and give it the capability in the future. After all this is supposed to be a 10 year game.

    As for the PC version, with the correct set up, you should be able to play in 3D. I have the nVidia 3D Vision set up and played 1.0 in 3D with no issues. I plan to play ARR in 3D on the same set up. Basically with 3D Vision, any DirectX game can be played in 3D.

    I'm not a console gamer, so I can't comment on if 3D is/will be an option for PS3.

    If the game is optimized for 3D is another story. I've played some games that looked terrible in 3D because of the depth of some objects being completely off from where they should be. For example, FPS games where your weapon would look like it was going through the wall if you walked up to it, or the HUD being so far out of the screen you couldn't see it, or the HUD being farther in the screen then your character. On the PC, there are tweaks you can make to fix most of these issues, and nVidia is pretty good about releasing updated 3D profiles for most games as well.

    You can force 3D, for 1.0 it didn't work that well due to the 60 FPS cap and sometimes the chat log would be weird looking.


    It should work better with ARR due to the promise of a no FPS cap option.

    I think it's up to nVidia to get their drivers working with the engine correctly, not the other way around.

    Back before even 1.0 was out, I remember Tanaka talking about 3D support. I distinctly remember a video of him with 3D glasses and 1.0 running with a 3 monitor setup..it was pretty cool...let's see if I can find it.

    Nope can't find it.


    It was at E3 or Tokyo Game show or something like that.

    Anyway, I hope they deliver that promise too! But it's okay if they don't.

    They purged all of the 1.0 release content, including the ones with the TV actresses and comedian personalities who were obviously not playing the game.

    That video that you're thinking of was when the beta build at that time had no FPS cap similar to the benchmark.


    I remember how funny Wada reacted to it.
