"Legacy" server capacity concerns

I'm honestly not sure - do Legacy players get a free transfer to ANY of the new servers? Or are we limited to Legacy servers? The post seemed really vague on that point, which is frustrating because it's the single most important factor for me right now.

Some of my friends want to create characters on one of the new servers since it has the same name as the XI server we all used. If I can't go there because I'm Legacy, I'm really going to be ticked off - especially after I spent all this time telling them how much XIV has improved and how it's worth a second go.

1.0 characters are limited to the Legacy servers, but players can create a new character anywhere they want. We've known for a long time that 1.0 characters were going to be restricted to certain servers, so there's nothing to get ticked off over.

Only options you have are to make a new character on the server everyone wants to pick or have them create characters on the Legacy server your old character ends up on.

To address the topic, I don't expect a whole lot of brand new players to flock to legacy servers. A few here and there might rejoin with people they knew from back when, but people starting fresh are more than likely going to pick a new server.
