And people say "I play with JPs and they play with me?" Yeah but few if any people from NA/EU could honestly say that they knew who they were or were friends. They played with you because they didn't have a contents finder that could help them distinguish who did/didn't have a JP client.
Whereas I wasn't friends with any of the Japanese players, I did join in with them regularly. Whenever I found it impossible to get a party for group content, I'd just go hang out at the place in-game until a party (usually Japanese) appeared in short order. A decent amount of amusing emotes and clumsy auto-translate got me in to the group. They were always very nice!

With a few notable exceptions, most NA players were more interested in doing their own thing than helping out other players, even if they had recently been helped out by said players in their tasks. The number of times I shouted in a bustling Ul'dah for help, or joined up with someone who needed a job quest and we were stuck at three or so members for hours, whilst people sat around and chatted or crafted or formed spiritbond parties over and over and over...

So I will miss greatly the Japanese players who leave Sargatanas, and I do not agree that this data centre thing is a good idea at all. However, I never beat Ifrit hard, and that battle (and future content along the same vein) seems to be the deciding factor about the whole issue.
