Regional Servers: Can we be a bit more specific please?

I am looking at these "Regional Servers" and notice that the Japan servers are pretty distinct but the remaining servers all say North American/Europe. wtf? Can you guys be a bit more specific as to where these servers are located. You can't just group NA and EU together, pretty sure we are talking about atleast 5,000 miles in between us. As a US player, I do not want to be on a EU server if I can get myself onto a NA server.

Am a little puzzled about that one as well. We only know ragnarok is specifically recommended for eu so that probably is, but they said there would be data centers in each of these regions so... I don't know why they can't list them separately.

If I had to guess, it would be the last few on the list that don't have a parallel on the JP side of the list, but that's just a guess.

I was wondering about this, too... ping across the pond can be pretty blah, so I'd really like to know which side(s) these are on.

I'd be pretty upset being stuck outside of my region for no good reason.

Yes that would be very nice if the Devs coul make it more clearly. I doubt that you can put all EU ppl that like to avoid the lag on one server....i cant really imagine that Ragnarok would be the only one....i hope its not XD

SquareEnix seriously need to hire someone to sort their news out and make sure it's simple and to the point. It's becoming a trend with each update throwing the community into confusion.

Yeah, they really need to clarify. Even lag doesn't become much of an issue, they should really give NA and EU separate servers due to the drastic time difference. It would suck if a few months down the line, the free company you joined disbands and you find yourself outnumbered by more people from the other country and can't find a decent LS because of the time difference.

i have a question with this too,
i'm from Australia and there are no oceanic servers - my server Aegis is going to be a Japanese Server and the Majority of LSs that i was with are shifting to another NA/EU server, will the NA/EU server i'm going to be more lagging to me than JP server? i'm feeling really caught between being a lagging player if i join my LS in a NA/EU server of being abandoned and having trouble finding people to do content in a JP server.

AUS players of games have a hard time getting servers for them because the hosting costs are much higher there.

More specifically, the hosting costs often don't stack up against the population levels.
If you were to put one in Indonesia even, that could work at lower costs, but you would still need the population to justify it.

I echo the desire to know about actual server locations (city or state will do - I don't need an address).

There is also a big difference between LA and NYC as locations to people outside the Americas, not to mention London.

Exactly. Depending on where those servers are actually located, could be the difference between JA and NA/EU choices for people...especially West Coasters and Islanders. (I am not one of them...but they are who I typically game with due to my RL schedule)
