It's not a forced merger. You can choose what server you want .Stay or change. But if you change you lose out on diversity ( Japanese and or English speaking people) in exchange for stable fast servers (reduce lag etc) in Europe.

yep, that's what I was worried about. I loved the diversity of JP/NA/EU servers in FFXI and FFXIV, and would really hate to be forced to play on a EU only or NA/EU only server.

Sadly you going to lose that diversity even without changing worlds. Most people going to end up not staying in JP worlds i'm sure they be a few but they going to end up regretting it due to not a lot of other EU/NA players during there hours. I play on on Ridill during the JP hours so i'm pretty use to it but i be still going to a NA world.
Going to miss seeing a lot of JP/EU players tho![]()

Here's the thing I just noticed.
They said "NA/EU datacentre". Does this mean the European servers are physically in North America?

Only way I can interpret it is that those servers under NA/EU that says EU are in Europe (Wherever that is), the others are in NA (Whatever that means).

I'm concerned it is along the same lines as the old "EU" server of Ragnarok, which was encouraged for EU players for the purposes of aligning time zone activity, even though the physical server was still in Japan.
So NA location, EU attendance encouraged? Or physical EU location? This is what I would like cleared up.
So till now we have no proof where the physical locations of the servers are ... :/
If we guess that the servers
Cerberus
Moogle
Odin
Shiva
Ragnarok (LEGACY)
are located on the EU then that means that the Lecacy member are forced to go to Ragnarok or live with lag or make a new Char and choose one of the other 4 EU server?
I hope we will get soon a list where we can see where the servers are physical located .... And to be focred to move to one server as Lecasy EU player is shit imo <.<

Yeah I'm confused by this as well. Does it mean EU servers will be the same as NA servers? Because that would be great since I wouldn't lose my EU friends.![]()

I think there 1 EU data center and 4 for new chars that how i look at it but we wont know to a dev say otherwise.
Also remember they also said they be checking how many players play during beta1-4 to see if they need to add more worlds.

So which is it? Phase 4 or launch? When exactly will my choices be locked in? We need a straight, 100% accurate answer. This conflicting info is just going to confuse and anger a bunch of people when they get it wrong without even knowing until it's too late.Originally Posted by Lodestone

You guys had also better make it clear in-game when any character changes will be permanent. I'm sure there's tons of people that don't keep up with the Lodestone news that won't hear about this, and they ought to be notified too of when their last chance to make changes is.
