Holiday Items in A Realm Reborn

The holiday item process has always been a bit of a rigmarole in x|v. First they were bells, then they were quests; first they had to be crafted and were tradeable, then they weren't; some holidays were on, some off, some cancelled. So far, however, all items have been one-of-a-kind.

What are the plans for carrying the holiday item traditions over to ARR?

Do we get in the holiday spirit and have the first round of holidays offer all the items from the past? Or do we bar some/all of them off for future generations of players? I know I missed a couple myself, so call me selfish but I like the former option!

The Year of the _____ Kabutos are a bit iffy for repeats, but I think we should allow it this time. They made a Year of the Snake Kabuto and it's not like that'll be out on time for New Years 2013 without a time machine.

Barring the appearance of an official reply, what do you the community think?

Louisoux died so we wouldn't get U/U holiday items again.

Honestly I wouldn't mind being able to get some of the past items again - I was here from the beginning, but I rerolled like 6(maybe more) times. It's completely my own fault for losing such items and I accept full responsibility for my actions; but at the same time, I wouldn't mind being able to re-acquire past items, like if a holiday vendor sold them for instance or if there was an extra leg of the quest to complete which would give you said items. At the same time, if they didn't implement anything and said past items are just that - in the past, I wouldn't mind one bit. It was my own fault for re-rolling and losing them, after all.

Will with the new engine i don't think any of our videocard would melt. The snow was fun for me it was that dam flower that made my video card work harder for some dumb reason.

I was being sarcastic as usual.

Yeah the flowers gave me trouble as well, but worst of all were the christmas trees! Oh gods I could here the videocard just begging for mercy, it was awful.

The only things I regret missing myself would be the flower earrings, the little moonlet earrings, and the swimsuits. I would love to have a chance to obtain them, and I believe they've stated that the swimsuits will be available again, or at least some variety of swimsuit will be. (I wish they were more explicit about if the old, already implemented designs will be available again or if it will be a totally new style, or both together... I hope for both).

But at the same time, I wouldn't get bent out of shape if they didn't reprise them. I made the personal choice to not play for a while after they started charging for the game again. Though I will say SE, you could have had me back and paying way sooner if only you'd have sent your "Hey look at all the good changes we've made!" e-mail to me earlier than you did...
