We know it looks like Scholar, no one is contesting that. And if you're going to use the excuse that it's on the box art, then why didn't they also put it on this box art:

Honestly, at this point, the only people hanging onto it not being SCH are the people who just wish they win the interweb debate on if it's legitimately a new job despite there being more evidence pointing to it being true than not.

Like Nix said, I'd be overjoyed if I was wrong and this was actually Scholar. We need more Mage classes/Jobs, and I only play Mages anyways. I'm just being skeptical because I've been burned by speculation like this other times for different games.

Exactly. Unless they've already jumped to the 'two jobs branch off from one class', there's no way it's Scholar, because it's obviously using a book as a weapon, and it's been confirmed that the book belongs to Arcanist/Summoner.

and well we cant add katana using classes, since it's a sword, and GLA/PLD already use swords; and we cant add berserker, cause MRD uses axe already.

Because boxes are different, depending on region, and if it's PC or PS3. And on US box, there's only Gaius, that doesn't mean we can only play as Gaius, does it?
The Job-wheel is only on JP box.

Honestly though, I do hope all your guys' optimism pays off and you do get SCH. I'm not being all meh and bitter when I say I don't think it's coming but I just don't get my hopes up for stuff because well... cake!

i honestly couldn't care less, if they add SCH, or not, at this point, cause i prefer melee classes; so it's not about me getting my hopes up; it's just that i just dont get it, how people can be so adamant about it NOT being SCH, when it so obviously looks like it, and you're saying it indeed looks like it, but for some reason it still isn't? it's so illogical, it's crazy

I would like it, since I'm a complete mage addict but if I break out my party poppers n' shit now then knowing my luck the party would get cancelled XD (Does that even make sense?)

I think in the job art on the main website, the SMN is also using a grimoire too which could be where a lot of the confusion is coming from. People say SMN use staves but in this picture, the SMN is holding a book D:
