AbsolutelyWent out of curiosity to a GameStop and asked how they deal will pre-order codes. He couldn't tell but maybe they send mails a few days before release or so.
I told him about the CE codes and them not being able to put on an existing account. He gave me a strange look and asked why. Then he said why they don't add the possibility to show SE your invoice of the CE and they upgrade your account to a CE one.
Would be a nice move :S

So I have some good news and bad news (for me).
I contacted Square-Enix Support and I just needed to give some basic information, and they willingly told me what I'd registered to my account. Pretty easy for anyone else wanting to know the status of their account.
The bad news is that apparently I registered with the buddy pass, and not the main registration code.... wtf was wrong with me in 2010?! What kind of dumbass does that? I guess I was so stressed about getting my computer working I made a few mistakes. Guess I'll be canceling and ordering the PS3 version.

After all is said and done with this 24 hr forum frenzy, I'm actually kind of glad I had to end up canceling my PC CE order and pre-ordering the PS3 CE. Owning a PS3, it's probably what I should have done to start with but it sounded like a pain and I was being lazy. This forced me to drag the thing out, update it, make a PSN acct; and I'm actually kind of excited to know I'll have absolutely everything on each system on my legacy account, and a back up system to play on as well!

To be honest, yeah. This is exactly how I feel. And the more I think about it, the better I feel. I know I'll be able to play on both platforms. I'm mostly worried that my PS3 is getting old, but if I just use it to register for the in-game bonuses it can't be all bad. After all is said and done with this 24 hr forum frenzy, I'm actually kind of glad I had to end up canceling my PC CE order and pre-ordering the PS3 CE. I think I was mostly upset for those who don't have a PS3 to use. SE needs to stop this crap.

Just a reminder to anyone who does not have a PS3 but is buying the PS3 CE for the code, you need to enter the code into a PSN account system. If you do not have a PSN account, you should see if you can get one before throwing down money on yet another useless code. You cannot enter the PS3 registration codes in SE's normal computer based site.

Anyone in the relatively obscure position of thinking they really should be getting the PS3 version, but don't have any friends with a PS3 so would be unable to set up a PSN account and register the codes, please find me on Twitter and I'll be happy to help you out by doing it on your behalf with you over Skype (or you could come to my house and do it yourself!).Just a reminder to anyone who does not have a PS3 but is buying the PS3 CE for the code, you need to enter the code into a PSN account system. As I'm in the EU and not sure about region issues with PSN, best only do this if your SE account is EU region too. I'm sure a kind and trustworthy NA forum user would be willing to help out any NAs who also found themselves stuck in this position...
I expect SE to have this figured out before the launch, there is no reason for this. You should be able to add the CE to your account with no trouble. If they need it to be an "upgrade" then they should have sold a Physical Upgrade CE or something in that lines. I looked the website up and down and nowhere does it state that a Stand Edition 1.0 account holder cannot obtain the in game items when purchasing the CE. They need to think of something to make this right for the people that want to or have already purchased the Physical CE. I do not own a PS3 and I have no plans to go out and purchase one in the immediate future.

I have a quick question: apparently my account is spilt into 2 different accounts. My main account has my 1.0 Standard Edition with the ARR Alpha testing, but I have another account (which is news to me) that has ARR beta testing on it. Is there a way to merge these together?

It sounds like you signed up for beta with a different email than the one associated with your account.I have a quick question: apparently my account is spilt into 2 different accounts.
