Which is true, whether you have 1.0 SE or CE. Difference is, if you have CE you'll already receive the in-game items via mogmail source
Players who own the FFXIV version 1.0 Collector’s Edition will receive the FFXIV: ARR Collector’s Edition in-game bonus items (Helm of Light, Baby Behemoth Minion, Behemoth Barding, and Coeurl Mount) for free. The in-game bonus items will be delivered via Moogle Letter when FFXIV: ARR launches.

Apparently if we have the CE from 1.0, we'll get the ARR bonus items. How do I check if I registered my CE version, because I bought both CE and standard back then to get both the Garlonde Goggles and the Onion Helm.

I am in same boat, i was overjoyed and purchased digital CE, now its a waste!!, so I contacted them to cancel the preorder, but I am worried they wont (always had bad experience with SE support). Ah well.

The digital upgrade is not out until game launch.

The "Digital Upgrade" is basically a code you can purchase which allows you to receive the digital collector's edition items if you did not already purchase the 1.0 collector's edition.

Point is, if someone has a 1.0 SE and wants the in-game AND physical CE items for ARR, they shouldnt have to purchase both the upgrade and the CE. Purchasing the CE should allow any user to receive both in-game and physical items regardless of their 1.0 status.

Honestly, the best solution right now is to pre-order the PS3 CE if you want to get all the items. Unfortunate for those that dont have a PS3 though.

This isn't an option actually for those that don't have a PS3, as the codes must be entered through the PSN reward code system, and that requires a PS3 and PSN account.

edit: probably misinterpreted what you were saying, as I was assuming you were suggesting getting the PS3 CE just for physical items and the digital item codes and just not using the disc.

For those who have the CE registered from 1.0: What does it say in your account management?

Mine says: FINAL FANTASY XIV - Windows(R)

Does someone who registered the CE have more than that? Is there a way to look up our registration code to cross-reference what's in the box?

    Mine says that as well.

Under option lists>permanent options I have the item:
    In-game item Code - Onion Helm Sep. 22, 2010

Might be the only way to tell if your account is CE or not.
