Are codes region locked?

So my SE account is EU based but due to moving, I only have access to the NA version of the game so... as the title says, if I get a NA game will the codes in it work on my EU accounts?

Just asking to see if anybody did something similar with 1.0

If it's anything like FFXI, the codes are going to be region locked still .

You can get around this by ordering digital copies of stuff; thankfully it's much easier now than it was like 10 years ago^^.
If you're wanting to order physical copies of stuff, if you can't get it shipped to you from an EU site, might be worth seeing if there's a family member or someone trusted who can act as a middle-man and then mail it to you?

Yeah but its much easier to take the bus to the local gamestop than to bother people with getting the game and mailing me the codes (and keeping the box is a good condition lol)

I guess I'll try anyway since its just 5$ to get a gamestop reciept.

If you're doing it for the pre-order codes, go with the digital download (if you're intending to purchase the product.) But if you're intending to go about the gamestop code exploit... :X that would not be good! lol

Don't get me wrong, I want all the swag the CE comes with but I don't know what region to get, so if the NA codes work I'll go through with the order but if not then I'll get one off Amazon.uk

You -could- buy the NA CE and set up a code exchange with someone from the EU via some forum..but yes, sadly the codes are region locked

Have a look at this thread Account Region Change. We are trying to raise awareness in order to get SE to address this issue. You should definitely try to help since it impacts you as well

Reason why I hate region locking with a passion, it's an obsolete and nasty practice.

.... anyone even read the news from a year ago anymore? no it will not be region locked, people can also play on japanese, eu, american servers etc of their wish. The eu and the na client is the same, so why would the code work on one and not the other, when it is ... the same?

(you can choose voice language and subs, in any of the main languages, i guess im going japanese voice and english sub myself)

yes, we do read the news, thank you. This is not the issue OP is bringing up. He is bringing up the legitimate issue of Square Enix accounts being locked to one region, in his case, EU. He is now living in NA region, so buying the EU software to obtain a code is troublesome.
