Multiboxing Please help!

Um... I'm confused about dual boxing or multi boxing.

I'm getting another copy of the game and I want to make another character to play at the same time as Hiir. I want to make sure I can play them both at the same time as a cute couple for Screenshots and other stuff. It'll be lalafell love. ^_^

I want to play both as the PC Windows Version.

According to your support site I need


- A Square Enix account (check!)
- A copy of the Windows version (check!)
- Three registration codes obtained from the product or the "FINAL FANTASY XIV Service Center" ( I will have 2 so... check!)

So now what do I do?

*You can register up to eight registration codes per Square Enix account.
*The "FINAL FANTASY XIV Service Center" website will be available after the game is launched. Please note that the website can only be accessed by those who purchased FINAL FANTASY XIV and registered a service account.


Do I need a second Square Enix account for the other character? Or do I just register the other character to the same Square Enix account but a different service account? Or do I just need One Square Enix account with one Service account and just need the registration code on the other character?

Will I be charged extra for my other registered character?

If both my characters share the same Square Enix account, how am I supposed to log in at the same time if their both on the same Square Enix account with the same account log in info?

Does the Legacy Program effect any of this?

I know it seems a tad early to ask but registration problems are a pain and are often irreparable. I want to get it right the first time.

let me simplify your quesiton.. since im too lazy to read all that in.

Q: I want to play 2 character at the same time on PC but with 1 SQEX Account ID!
A: You can do so by by buying 2 copies of FFXIV (or 1 copy if you already own a copy of FFXIV) and make sure you register each code as a NEW FFXIV SERVICE ACCOUNT. Once done you can now log in two of this account on different machine.

Q: Can i have 2 SQEX Account ID and 2 Character?
A: Yes is possible.

Q: Will i be charged Extra for my other registered Character?
A: It will be as a another service account, so you are paying two account, 12.99 x 2 for example.

Q: If both my characters share the same Square Enix account, how am I supposed to log in at the same time if their both on the same Square Enix account with the same account log in info?
A: There will be a choice of which Service account you want to enter. EG. log in "Final Fantasy XIV 1" or "Final Fantasy XIV 2", etc.

Q: Does the Legacy Program effect any of this?
A : No.

The way I do it is to have two completely separate SE Accounts registered to two different emails with two different security tokens.

Why do I do it this way? Because I don't trust SE and if they were to lock my account for some reason I wouldn't lose BOTH my characters. Slim chance I know, but I have read enough horror stories that when I decided to dual box, I figured it would be best to keep them completely separate.

It does NOT say this for dualboxing the PC version.

If this is an omission, then okay they can clarify, but I don't think anyone outside SE has the answers to these questions.

Well i dont know if you can log in both account on 1 PC, but i do know that you need to make separated account if you want to have 2 Accounts under 1 SE Acct and loggin into game with 1 SQEX ID but 2 characters at the same time.

Windows only: To use 3 characters simultaneously, you need:

It says you need 2 registration codes and stops there. But unlike with PS3-PC multi box, or PS3-PS3 multibox it doesn't tell you if you need to make separate accounts. Or if those accounts are SE or FFXIV service.

You could be completely right, but I would like an official answer.

If you register 2 PC Keys, it will automaticly becomes "Final Fantasy XIV 1" & "Final Fantasy XIV 2"



With this i have to pay for 2 account, since i have 1 legacy and 1 normal i have to pay 9.99 + 12.99/mo, but i have the benefits of character creation for legacy for ALT.

With 2 Service Account in 1 SQEX Account Management, i can log in both at the same time on 2 different PC.

How can you log in the other Ffxiv 2 if you are logged in on Ffxiv 1 if you have the same login? Not asking to fight that was one of my questions.

If only 1 has legacy how can you get benefits on your ALT?

there is no omission, the faq mentions dualboxing both platforms as well (and that in this situation, only 2 characters at once is possible).

So there's no omission of the creating two SE (or service) accounts?

The reason I'm asking all these questions is like I stated in the TL;DR initial post.

If you get it wrong it's wrong forever and you have to start with a new copy of the game.

You guys are great for responding but in the end, I want an official response because if I follow you and it's wrong, what are you doing about it? Nothing, can't do anything.

The knowlege base needs more information for people who have not done this before. Like me. Or it needs to say more information in that article besides "you need this stuff" for the PC. Because I can understand it for the PS3 part, but it is not as clear for the PC part and as you can see people say "You need 2 SE accounts because if you log in on the same SE account in two PCs they can ban you!"

Or
"You can't dual box on one SE account." or "You have to have 2 service accounts."

Just in the first page I've gotten these different answers.
