    Quality over Quantity

*update This post was written on April 4 but I think it's still relevant*

    Dear Dev team,
I know you guys are hard at work to make Eorzea a wonderful place full of adventure. All I can ask is that you take your time with updates and make sure they are 125% above the standard expectation. We have high hopes for this game, and expect SE to be able to deliver.

I have been getting a little worried however. We keep getting small patches that fix one problem but create four more. I know you guys are doing the best you can, with so many areas needing to be addressed, and so many different view points from players. Half the players ask for one thing and the other half say its f'n retarded. People are growing impatient wanting everything their way and wanting it NOW. I'm sorry for this, but we are not to blame.

I think it is VERY important that you take your time to make sure our next patches have QUALITY updates. If that will take more time, then delay the update. Just keep us informed of what your doing. If you want to put out small updates more often, then make those small updates count with quality work that I know you are capable of.

I know you are working on some kind of dungeon right now and I hope you understand that when that dungeon come out it better kick soo much ass, that we are just blown away. I think a lot of people will lose faith if it doesnt.

This is my two cents, my opinions, like this post if you agree.

Something tells me if they were rushing it, we woulda had it already, so we should be ok on that.

I am in favor of quality

I am in favor of quantity

I am strongly against being forced to choose between the two... but if I had to, I would pick quality.

Agreed with this topic. Like TheVedis said though I think they know that they can't afford to screw up and I am hoping that is why it is taking so long as they want to make sure they do it right.

Heres another quality over quantity issue i have been having some trouble with. The +1, +2, +3 items.

We no longer recieve any +1, or +2 items from enemy drops anymore. This was removed because people were complaining that they didnt have enough inventory space to have 4 different versions of the items. This is a prime example of what I'm talking about. Instead of taking the time to make a quality fix they just rushed out some quick fix that just creates more problems.

If we are not going to recieve +1, or +2 items, why not do away with them and just have standard and +1?
    or
Make all qualities of the same item only count as 1 inventory slot, so you could have 99 logs, 99 +1 logs, 99 +2 logs and 99 +3 logs, all only taking one inventory slot.

Those are just 2 ideas that are better than what they did imo, but I'm sure there are many other solutions that are better too

What do you think? like if you agree.

You are darn right, even if your solution is only another quick fix that doesn't really address the root of the problem.

The real solution would be for the devs to ask themselves: "Why do the players have so many problems to manage their inventories?"

This is related to the number of different items a single player will encounter during his playtime, including loot, gathering and its own crafting, related to the number of different jobs he do (more jobs = more items types), related to the number of different zones he goes through (more zones = more items types), related to the ease of selling/trading/throwing away some items (less way to discard them = more items types), related to the inventories (bags/retainer/housing) space.

Balancing all of this altogether is something really complicated, and requires a lot of thought to become enjoyable for everyone while still keeping the notion of inventory space management in the game.

Most of the games increase the inventory size as the player levels, in a way or another, while keeping it always at a point where he can play for at least few hours between two item sorting pauses. FF14 makes this a lot more complicated due to the number of class you can have at the same time and the quantity of crafting materials. They should really have a look at Eve Online inventory management, as this is one of the few games with the same diversity in roles and items types for a single player.

And even all of this considered, the result will have to follow the changes that will happen to the other parts of the game....
