    Regarding the pre-order bonuses:

Are early access and the in-game items handled by a single code, or are the items under a separate code from the early access?

For example, I have an existing Legacy account, so I already have early access. Suppose I pre-order a new copy because now my spouse wants to play, but she doesn't care much about the items. Would it be possible to split the pre-order bonuses so that the items are applied to my existing account, but the early access gets applied to my spouse's account? Or would putting the items on my account also mean I'm forced to put the early access also on my account (effectively wasting it because I already have that from Legacy)?

    Hi Hvinire,

So to be absolutely sure, you're saying:

    * Someone who has purchased Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 Collector's Edition *and* qualified for Legacy Status, WILL get Early Access for 2.0 (ARR)?

Or do they need to repurchase the game again?

Because on the Lodestone Main Page, it clearly states: "Players who have version 1.0 will not need to purchase FFXIV: ARR to continue playing on the PC."

    Thanks for clearing things up!

If you want early access, you'll either have to be Legacy status, OR have pre-ordered the collector's edition.

You don't need to repurchase the game again to get early access though, there will be a free client download for anyone who played 1.0 on PC.

I hope this clears it up for you!

We have yet, many more Q&A about the purchase process and bonuses for FFXIV:ARR here below. Thank you for your patience in this process as we do our best to explain it all:

Let's say I pre-order the PS3 version, would it be possible to do the following?

1: Play the PS3 version on Square Enix Account A (linked to a Sony Entertainment Network account)
2: Use the pre-order bonuses on a separate Square Enix Account B.
Yes, it will be possible to do both. Pre-order bonus codes are separate from the purchase code.

There's a downloadable version of the Windows collector's edition, and it looks like it has the same bonuses as the CE packaged version. But how would I get the (physical) art book and other items that come with the CE package?
The digital download of the collector's edition only includes the in game bonus items. It does not include the physical goods of the packaged version. This is why the collector's edition digital download is less expensive.

Let's say I pre-order the standard PS3 version, if I want to take the pre-order bonus code and apply it to my collector's edition account from FFXIV 1.0, do I need a PS3 to do so?
Yes. The pre-order bonus code included with the PS3 version must be used through the PlayStation Store, which requires a PS3.

What codes are included when pre-ordering the collector's edition?
    1. A single code to activate one service account and receive the collector's edition digital bonus items.
    2. A single pre-order code required for early access and to receive the pre-order bonus items.

If you already have a service account, the pre-order code can be used with it if you choose to do so.

The sale date has finally been announced as August 27th, but different retailers show different delivery dates. Let's say the game I order is delivered after the release date, does that mean I may not get to play when the early access code expires on release day.
We're considering adjusting early access to include a short period after official service begins. An announcement will be made when we've reached a decision.

Let's say I bought the FFXIV 1.0 CE and I also have Legacy status. If I don't purchase the standard or collector's edition for FFXIV:ARR, will I have to begin paying for the subscription service when the game starts on August 27th?
    Yes, that is correct.

    Here is a hypothetical setup:

    Square Enix Account
    - FF14 -- Service Account A (PC) [view additional options (in game items, etc.)]
    - FF14 -- Service Account B (PS3)

If I want to play the PC and PS3 versions on the same account, I can add the PS3 version to account A and play on a separate character for each.
If I want to play the PC and PS3 versions at the same time on different accounts, I can put the PS3 version on Account B.
    Yes, you are correct.
・Pre-order Items: You can use the pre-order code on either account A or B.
・CE Items: The CE items are included in the product registration code, so they cannot be added to an account separately.

The Onion Helm wasn't listed as a collector's edition item. Does this mean I won't get it even if I upgrade to collector's edition?
Unfortunately, the Onion Helm was a collector's edition item for Version 1.0, so it is not obtainable with the new collector's edition.

Anyone who purchased the collector's edition for Version 1.0 will automatically receive the new collector's edition digital items, but how can you tell who bought the collector's edition for Version 1.0?
There were distinct registration codes for both the standard and collector's edition in Version 1.0. There's no need to worry about trying to confirm it. It's well documented in the Square Enix account system.

Let's say I choose to use the PS3 CE code to get bonus items on my current Windows account, does that mean both the Windows and PS3 versions share the same account, and I can't make two service accounts? Also, if I'd like to play on two separate accounts, would I have to choose which account to put the bonus items on?
Yes, you would not be able to play using two service accounts.

In order to play with two service accounts and also receive the bonus items on both, you would need to do the following:
・Current Account: Purchase the digital upgrade.
・Second (New) Account: Buy a new copy of FFXIV:ARR (PS3 or PC) and create a new service account.

Let's say I purchase the Windows version, I get 30 free days to play, but can I apply these 30 days to my legacy account?
No, you cannot. The 30 day trial period cannot be applied separately from the registration code included with purchase.

However, the PS3 version can be linked to your legacy account, granting you the 30 day trial period.

    Let's say I own FFXIV 1.0 and I don't have a PS3, what should I do to get the pre-order bonuses?
Pre-order the standard edition of FFXIV:ARR. Once you've received the pre-order code, apply it to your current FFXIV service account.

Let's say I've registered the Onion Helm and Garlond Goggles to my account, but because of when I made one of my characters, they only have one of these items. Will this character still only have one of the items in FFXIV:ARR? Or will both of them be resent?
In this case, both items would be (re)delivered to the character.

And even more questions still! Continue to provide us your feedback and let us know if there are still concerns or queries you have about this process.

Let's say I make two accounts, one with the Windows Version and one with the PS3 version. Can I play my PC account on my PS3 without buying another copy for the PS3 version right?
When you register the Windows or PS3 version to an account, you're authorizing that account to log in from the corresponding platform. Registration codes from both the Windows and PS3 versions are required to log in to both platforms with 1 service account.

For the Windows version, is the installation disc going to be Blu-ray or DVD?
The installation disc will be a DVD.

Let's say I bought Version 1.0 when it first came out, but it was so long ago I don't remember if I registered the code I got or not, and I cannot find the package today. Would I run into any concerns buying the packaged or downloadable version of FFXIV:ARR?
If you log into your Square Enix account you can confirm if you have FFXIV service account.
If you have not played the game and are looking to start fresh, there should be no problems in purchasing the packaged or downloadable version of the game.

Let's say I have a code for the Garlond Goggles that I never used, but would I be able to use it?
If you still have the unused Garlond Goggle code, it can be registered to your account after the official start of service. Also, all characters created on your service account will receive the item.

Let's say I have the collector's edition from FFXIV Version 1.0, so I know I'll get the digital collector's edition items for FFXIV:ARR. I also have Legacy status so I know I get early access.

However, I also want the Cait Sith doll and the mog cap, so I'm considering pre-ordering the standard edition. If I don't have a PS3 would I need to pre-order the Windows version to use the code?
Yes. In order to obtain the pre-order items, you would need to register a pre-order code from the Windows version to your account.

Can I get the coeurl mount if I purchase the standard edition?
There are no plans to make the collector's edition items available outside of purchasing the collector's edition. This also applies to pre-order bonus items.

Are the sale date and start of service on different days?
They are both planned for August 27, 2013.

Let's say I purchased Version 1.0, and I want to get the pre-order bonus items, the collector's edition bonus items, and I also want to get all the physical goods that come with the collector's edition package. Would I be alright in just pre-ordering the collector's edition?
Unfortunately, you would need the additional digital upgrade.
Changing the status of a current Windows service account must be done through a digital upgrade. Your current service account cannot be overwritten with a new registration code from the collector's edition.

Let's say I want to play with my family and we'll need several accounts, but we don't need a lot of boxes sitting around the house. Is it possible to purchase just the registration code?
Yes, you would only need to purchase the downloadable version.

Yoshida recently posted an update regarding FFXIV 1.0 users being able to try out FFXIV:ARR at launch that I'd like to pass along:

I apologize for the delay in preparing various announcements.

With the beginning of official service on 8/27, we will be implementing a two-week long Welcome Back Campaign for those of you who have a FFXIV 1.0 service account, regardless if you are a Legacy Member or if you have Collector’s Edition/Standard Edition. During this time period you can try out FFXIV: ARR for free, so please take this opportunity to check out the game!

Once the date draws closer we will be announcing the details on the Lodestone as well as sending out an email from the development team.

    Well now I'm confused. I have a PS3 and I have a 1.0 CE Legacy account.
    I preordered PS3's standard edition.
As long as I link it to my PC account I'll be able to use the pre-order code without problems.

The problem would only arise were I not to link my account to the PS3 version.

    Correct?
