We're talking about preorder bonuses only, and the sense it makes is exactly the same. Those that will buy a second copy of a game they already own for the preorder bonuses, I can guarantee it, will be a negligible percentage.

On the other hand if SE offered an upgrade to preorder status for a reasonable fee, they'd get a much higher turnaround rate, resulting in making a lot more money.
I am specifically talking in regards to the pre-order bonus items.

The 'fee' to get these items is pre ordering a new copy of the game, (I was just using CE as an example which I should have just said copy)

    But my point still stands-

If SE is simply making these items available for "Pre ordering" a copy of the game (lets say the cheapest pre order you can get is 60$) But allow users to get "pre order status" for paying less - in my previous example 50$ Would you still do it?

My point is- I don't understand what your asking for to get these items- A lesser fee? If so- what if its only a minuscule less fee for just the items?

No. It's not. That's the price of the game. The items are a *bonus*

The point is that Square Enix shouldn't try to capitalize on those already having the game getting a second copy, first of all because it doesn't make sense since they're offering the new game for free ("hey, we're giving you the game for free, but do buy it anyway!" is terribly counterintuitive and rather backwards), secondly because the turnaround ratio for offering the preorder bonuses for a 5-10 bucks fee would be MUCH higher than the negligible percentage of those that would be willing to fully repurchase a product that they're already getting for free.

At SE they're very free to make their own prediction, but I can easily say that for any one willing to fully repurchase the game, there would be at least 10 people willing to pay 5-10 bucks to get the preorder bonuses only. Most people don't like to pay for what they already have. Give them an option to pay a reasonable fee for what they don't have only, and a lot of them will.

    Cha-ching.

I'd imagine he's asking for somewhere under the $30 price, since that's the price of the cheapest version, NA PC.

I'm not too worked up over it, though. I'll just use the stuff that comes with the PS3 version, since I need a copy to play on my console anyway.

I might be nice to do this, but I'm not holding my breath; I'd simply want the Mog Cap and Doll just to say I have it, though the material bonus items would be nice to. If I wasn't broke and had a legitmate reason to purchase the PS3 copy, then I'd totally jump on it.

I'll just be happy to play =/

i get the op point ,
as a first wave player CE-legacy player im getting everything i want an more
except for the pre-order hat and doll , so im not inclined to buy a new full version of the game just for that

am i mad that im not getting it , no i feel like im getting plenty for my loyalty
i feel that SE appreciate me as a loyal player and that im getting reward for it with the things im getting ( lower price / exclusive goody's )

as to the op post and point i do get that
if SE would offer the option to get those items at a small price ( +-10 € ) or part of wen you subscribe for 90/180 day subscription at launch

im not for or against this idea , ether way is good for me

Here is a link to all pricing information. The upgrade to collector's edition is $20 $19.99

For the point of the OP you can get the pre-order perks. You can pay $30 ($29.99) for it. Don't want to do that because you think the extra copy of the disk is pointless? I don't know what to tell you. I'm pre-ordering a CE editions to get all the goodies. I'm even legacy and get everything but pre-order items and physical items anyway. Then again I don't actually buy games all that often so a 1 time of $70 is ok to me to get all the stuff offered.

For those who keep asking about how pre-ordering a new version when you already have the 1.0 version works. If you pre-order ANY copy standard or CE you can apply the code to your EXISTING Square Enix account. The one you log into here https://secure.square-enix.com/accou...quest=accffxiv

You can only apply the codes to ONE Square Enix account. So if you want to start a new account and want the items on that account you will not be able to apply them to your already existing square enix account. If you apply them to your existing account...... well in 1.0 the game registration was a separate code than item code registration. So if that rings true you can apply the item code to your existing account and still have a separate game account. But items are ONE account only. Considering you have until Dec 31, 2013 to apply the item code I would say that pretty much guarantees the game registration code is separate from the item code. So you can apply items to existing account and not waste game code if you want to start a separate account to dual box.

I hope I said that in enough ways so it's clear enough :3
The best bang for your buck is if you want to play on both platforms on the same account. You get the PS3 version of the game and get all the items.

They're collector's edition preorder bonuses, not regular edition. If you already have the collecto'rs edition, you already get these items. If not, you can get them by upgrading to the collector's edition ($29.99 instead of 49.99)
