Thread: Please let those that already own FFXIV 1.0 purchase preorder privileges

I've been told to pre-order and register the code, then just cancel the pre-order later. This method while giving those of us non-legacy the pre-order bonus it also takes them away from new players. There is already a divide between legacy and non with a whole lot of "I'm better than you" from them. SE you need to stop making it a bigger divide or you will ruin your own community.

This is causing quite a few of my friends to not even want to give the game another chance, since a late start is massive in a mmo.

Legacy is kinda.. already the community, because they stuck around to take care, and support this "crippled dog." Any New player/ff fan will not care or be proud of such a feat, and will be proud to be apart of/join the already established community.

Sorry, but this is the most nonsensical thing I heard in the whole thread. Now those that aren't legacy aren't part of the community?

Belonging to the community isn't measured by how much money one paid, and mind you, it's entirely possible to be legacy and having paid less than someone that isn't (IE, someone that bought the CE and paid for two months, and someone that got the standard but paid for three months just to get legacy privileges, and I know people in both positions).

This has nothing to do with "haters". No one here is "hating".

No. SE isn't "providing with a way to show our support". The preorder campaign isn't made for the existing players unless one wants the physical collectors or the PS3 version. It's made for those that never bought FFXIV. I'm sorry, but it's not very realistic to believe that SE is banking on people buying the PC version twice. Their number will be negligible anyway in the grand scheme of things.

To be completely honest encouraging people to buy what SE (rightfully) decided to give them for free is quite the anti-consumer stance, and basically encourages the company to take advantage of people's passion for the game in a quite underhanded way, thing that I don't believe they're doing, as they probably just overlooked the possibility.
What SE needs is people to come back and try the game in big numbers (which is why they're giving the game away for free), and to stick with it and pay the monthly fee.

Allowing existing players to purchase the preorder bonuses for a fee is *exactly* a way to give existing players a further way to support the game, and a reasonable one (as expecting them to buy a product that they already own isn't reasonable), that transforms into an almost 100% net gain for SE, without flying in the face of logic.

Preorders aren't a "way to show support". They're a way for companies to gauge how many copies of a game they need to print without leaving too many unsold ones on the shelves, and for MMORPGs, they're even more important, as they provide a way to gauge how many players will hit the servers at release. As a matter of fact by encouraging people that already own the game to preorder, you encourage them to throw off those statistics, and as many other games demonstrated, launching a MMO with too many servers is everything but healthy for a game.

Then give that early access to a friend who does not have legacy or have money to buy the game .
