Scholar... SAY WHUT?

aren't the archons, scholars from Sharlayan? (whatever it's called) so you could learn from them.
since elemental wheel is now, meh, maybe scholar (if it's a bit like in XI) can buff casters, to deal more elemental damage.
would make more sense to add scholar, than RDM, BLU or whatever.

The only real mechanic I hope they bring over from XI is the ability to switch between a healer/nuke role (similar to the Cleric Stance that CNJ has, but more effective) so that it can easily main cure in a raid. Only having 1 healer role means that for every 1 that's levelled means that only 3 other classes could level alongside it. There will be a major lack of CNJs to level with =/

Yeah, if Scholar exists, SE is going to have a lot of clarity edits to make. We currently have scholars down at the Arcanist guild, goblin scholars affixing materia to things, the archons are all scholars from Sharlayan, one of the Twelve is a Scholar with a staff instead of a book... they'll basically have to CTRL+F their database and get cracking, lol.

I suspect if it's an issue they will differentuate them in a similar fashion to Dragoon and Azure Dragoon (though it's not quite the same issue). You hold a Soul of the Scholar but you and those you learn the trade from; are referred to by some other title that identifies you as a specific group of Scholars.

Why not Red Mage first? It seems wierd to not add in a more prevalant, basic job from the series first, over scholar. I can see not putting in more melee type jobs since the game needs some more mages, but why Scholar and not Red mage? For a specific role fulfillment?
