FFXIVCore has moved

Hey folks,

I'm not sure how many people used to follow FFXIVCore back in the day, but as of this morning Curse (the company that took over FFXIVCore) decided to cut it loose, despite the timing around the re-release of the game.

The staff at the Core have opened up a site for those interested at http://corerefugees.enjin.com/ This is probably temporary as I think the staff and many of the members want to have something independent from Enjin.

The Core was the first site I remember coming online when FFXIV was first announced, so I figured there were others out there that may have followed the site as well and may not be in touch with it much anymore and might want to know what happened with it.

Think a lot of people stopped going to that site once they stopped updating content.

I popped in to advertise my new Linkshell and Free Company a few weeks ago and it seemed somewhat dead. That might be why their host is dumping them.

I do wish them luck on rebuilding, though.

Worst timing ever for a business move on Curse's part. But they've been a terrible, terrible portal since the times of Warhammer alliance.

There was a combination of things that led to their decline in traffic. Some were internal admin issues. Then of course was the disappointing initial launch so many people just never came back after that. Another big reason was the launch of the official forums.

I'm not sure how well the site will get back on its feet, but it did have a pretty dedicated following, even if many people were just lurkers and didn't post much. I just wanted to make it aware that they're still around and seem to have plans to get another community site going if folks wanted an alternative place to discuss things.

Think the forums just went down. Managed to grab a shot of my character from 1.0 beta before it did, at least.

Stopped using the site a long time ago for various reasons. I'm interested in seeing how this turns out though. Will be keeping an eye on it.

I think this is just the push that it needs. I know there was a large admin hole that was never filled as long as Curse had control of the site. This no doubt lead to some of the decline experienced
