The idea of having more than one Job branch from a single class has already been hinted at/played with by Yoshi-P in one of his letters:

A: I spoke to the battle team earlier, and they said they will do it… when they find the time, that is. They’re currently focused on refining the new battle system, which has changed so radically that all classes are essentially new. When that’s finished, they’ll move on to secondary jobs, but I cannot say when that might be.
There was also a mention (a muse perhaps) of having Dark Knight come from Gladiator too, but that one is currently lost to me.

If indeed the idea of secondary jobs has already been put into motion, then this concept/drawing may hint at that, assuming that it is actually Scholar and not Arcanist. Personally, I find it very strange that Arcanist would be given the iconic Job Artefact Armour of Scholar, which is why I'm more inclined to believe it is Scholar. If this is just Arcanist, it probably shouldn't have been drawn to be wearing what it is, seeing as classes don't tend to wear such things. So far we have only had class specific weapons, the armour was shared between classes (eg Heavy Darksteel Armor is wearable by both GLA and MRD), which dissuades me from the "it's class specific equipment" argument.

It's not infeasible to think that Arcanist could be the first class to have 2 Jobs associated with it. It may not come in at launch (it is just a picture and nothing factual) but it could be there soon after, maybe with secondary jobs for other classes.

It's also reasonable to think that this picture has been given for us to come across as a means of generating hype and such from dedicated followers as a kind of PR thing. With another live letter due and E3 news, it seems like a good idea.
