"It's Scholar!" v. "It isn't Scholar!"
Who knows. SE might just want the two newest things front and center, artistic balance be damned, or maybe those Reddit posts a month or two back with the SCHOLAR UNLOCKED screenshot weren't just fakes n' flukes, eh? I wouldn't put it past SE to sneak something by us. Yoshida did say that the three newest jobs would be a pet class, a scout class, and supportive magic user. Summoner is confirmed, Thief is everything but confirmed, and Scholar would fit the bill for that last one. We'll have to wait and see.
"[THIS CLASS] TURNING INTO [THIS JOB] MAKES NO SENSE AND IT MAKES ME ANGRY."
It's really time to give this kind of thinking up. None of it makes sense. It's all based on previous experience and association. It makes no less sense for a Bard to use a bow than a dagger (I'd argue that it makes more sense for the artistic, music-minded people to be attacking from a distance), and both of those make about as much sense as boxing leading to Kung-fu chi-blasting, or all spear-wielders suddenly developing a hatred for everything dragon. SE has every right to challenge the past if they can make it fun. And Rangers use Great Bows, for the record. If Paladin using sword doesn't block great swords from ever happening, there's still plenty of room for Ranger.
All in all, the big clue here is the book. Scholar might have some evidence going for it, but would SE really release two classes and jobs that both use books at the same time? That'd be silly.
I half-hope that Scholar turns out to come from Musketeer just so the rigid traditionalists' heads will explode trying to accept Lominsa as home to a quick-witted, well-spoken, flintlock-firing squad of casters.

It just occurred to me that if the intention is to slowly raise the level cap over time (i.e. through expansions.) then secondary jobs for classes could become relevant.
It no longer becomes an issue of my "Class X" is 50 so my "Job X1" is also fifty and the new "Job X2" will also be 50. But rather (if they do it well.) The level cap is raising to 60. My level 50 "Class X" can continue leveling with "Job X1" to the new cap OR I can unlock "Job X2" and play as that. Or for people with no interest in playing a given class because of the job that it currently turns into, with the advent of new jobs a class may become one that certain people want to play as.
I still think they would need to drastically change their approach to how jobs work, but really there's no evidence that they haven't done that already.
Trying to make definitive statements at this juncture is just a little silly. It's not possible to answer the question with the information provided. Everything else is just assumption and speculation.
This possibility is always in the foreground for me, usually just implied as an "obviously." It's not hard to fake something with a black background and some time - though they admittedly would have done a pretty good job with "the pixels" compared to the DNC one, which is unevenly spaced and warbles a bit if you scale it up and down.

Would be dope if it were an advanced class. So you would need to level whm, blm, and arcanist to unlock it. Then in job form (which I would assume could be switched too from any of those three job) you would have sweet new scholar spells and skills, and the ability to pick extra skills from a pool of the three jobs or classes you needed to level to unlock it. This in turn would begin adding depth to the armory system we haven't seen yet.
Please refrain from telling me how far out on the limb I am, I am well aware :P
As a side note, w/e happens, if they release any class after arcanist that isn't musketeer, as a native of Limsa, I will be pretty butthurt.
I'm surprised to suddenly see people posting dat mined information. Considering it's actually forbidden to do so. Yes, we know about it and S-E certainly does so as well but it's still sort of a taboo thing to show and discuss.
I bet S-E is now wondering how to best deal with this entire escalated situation. Unless this is what they were hoping for. And all of this is simply a clever marketing trick. I for one, am simply waiting for an official dev response. But truth be told, I'm leaning to scholar as well now.
The silence from the dev side is kinda disturbing. Especially considering they're known to be able to instantly put down unnecessary fires. If the art was fake or scholar was 100% impossible, then they would have surely jumped in by now. Yet we now have multiple topics and some reaching over the 100 pages on some other hidden forum *cough*.

did anyone say maybe Arcanist is going to be the first class with dual Jobs I highly doubt it myself but it is always an option -shrugs-

To listen to suffer to entrust until tomorrow
In one fleeting moment, from the land doth life flow
Yet in one fleeting moment for the new leaf doth grow"
