The scholar-like character in the image looks like she's borrowed the FFIII Scholar colour scheme for the robe/gown, and the FFIII Scholar used tomes.

I hope this is a secret reveal...but it's probably just Arcanist.![]()
Compare your "scholar" to this arcanist:

Same character model, as with the summoner.
I'll let you draw your own conclusions, but I think they're simply trying to show off what wasn't in the game's original release.
Ohhhh... so is that why the Elezen developed tallness and the dhamel-neck? So they could read the titles of the books on the top shelf? Oh my Elezen ancestry couldn't be sadder, why on Hydaelyn couldn't they use the ladder!? MwO-ohohohoho!Compare your "scholar" to this arcanist:

Would be silly on the artist part if it were arcanist, as the depiction of the foreground art work, depicts only the FF14 Jobs(There is a theme going on there). Second that outfit has nothing to do with arcanist/summoner, that is a Scholar AF outfit from FFXI, lets not insult the artist intelligence.
3rd Yoshi and team have not shown anything on arcanist yet and they could have easily switch its weapon from a book to something else and just added a scholar Job(what its class will be remains to be seen)
Not sure why everyone thinks Yoshi and Team would not be working on new class/jobs for this game. They do have a team dedicated just for that... This is hype and its working!
"You cannot simultaneously prevent and prepare for war."
Hoping for a new class SCHOLAR with an associated job LOREMASTER.![]()
I didn't even notice that all of them in the front were jobs, I guess it could be SCH if that is what's going on there.
I'm more interested in the background though, I wanna know what those classes/jobs are.
Someone pointed out that they are releasing pictures of these exact characters here

Maybe there's some sort of reveal coming up at about the time they release a background of that character
The interesting thing is that When you look closely, the summoner and monk jobs are the only ones that do not seem to be carrying any weapons. So far it was the summoner who held the tomes/grimoires in the concept art (as you can see at the jobs section of the official FFXIV site).Would be silly on the artist part if it were arcanist, as the depiction of the foreground art work, depicts only the FF14 Jobs(There is a theme going on there). Maybe you are right, they could have given the tomes/grimoires to a yet to be announced scholar job. The question then would be, what type of weapon will the summoner wield? A whip?
