I'm really hoping it means something. Scholar was one of my favorite classes to play in XI and I'd love to see an incarnation of it in XIV.

I don't know, I rather don't really care as much about whats up front then whats in the background.
OMG THE CUTENESS
Multi jobs from one class is a stupid idea IMO, I'd hate to get a new job and then find out that it's already at 50. And then there's class traits; GLA for example has very tanky traits, so any other job that comes off it will -have- to be a tank. Doesn't really do much for variety.
If it's not ACN then I'm going to guess at Arithmetician > Scholar, ACNs use Grimoires ("apparently", wouldn't be surprised if SE lied to confuzzle us and it's actually a SCH weapon this whole time), or the SCH books could be called something different, like an encylopedia or w/e.
I hope it is Scholar, we need another healer; hopefully support-combo
Wouldn't be stupid if you had to level it in a different way, like instead of 5 new job skills you had to unlock 15 new skills, would be just a different leveling system, don't you agree?Multi jobs from one class is a stupid idea IMO, I'd hate to get a new job and then find out that it's already at 50. Only if it took you 2-3 weeks to fully unlock it. I just hate the idea, it seems stupid to me and I can't think of any way to justify it =/
Yeah, right now the job system is not built to support multiple jobs per class. If they wanted to go this direction they would have needed to change how it worked at it's core. Right now jobs are too tied into the class they start with for them to be able to wedge multiple jobs into a given class.
Though I would point out that a class can play all the way to 50 before unlocking it's job counterpart, but it isn't that big a deal in the current system because the job doesn't really change the role of the class much.
I agree that trying to shoe horn multiple jobs on classes as they are now would be bad, for many different reasons.
The scholar-like character in the image looks like she's borrowed the FFIII Scholar colour scheme for the robe/gown, and the FFIII Scholar used tomes.

I hope this is a secret reveal...but it's probably just Arcanist.![]()
Would be silly on the artist part if it were arcanist, as the depiction of the foreground art work, depicts only the FF14 Jobs(There is a theme going on there). Second that outfit has nothing to do with arcanist/summoner, that is a Scholar AF outfit from FFXI, lets not insult the artist intelligence.
3rd Yoshi and team have not shown anything on arcanist yet and they could have easily switch its weapon from a book to something else and just added a scholar Job(what its class will be remains to be seen)
Not sure why everyone thinks Yoshi and Team would not be working on new class/jobs for this game. They do have a team dedicated just for that... This is hype and its working!
