Ya, I think with a level cap increase and more job abilities, the multi-job per class system could flourish. For example, ARC -> Ranger or something could be totally unique vs BRD. Each branched job could fill a potential niche role.I think so ya because the pet itself change the role of the Job. A monk is a 1VS1 DPS while PUP can change his fighting by changing his pet. The pup is more about doing great DMG with a pet vs just yourself and remember by the time they add 2# job it could be around level 60+ cap where you get 10+ job spell.
I don't think we going to get other job in a class at level 50 cap which mean they could even be a better system to allow this at higher level.
Yep ARC BRD/RNG
PUG MNK/PUP
GLA could be Dark knight/ PLD
Lancer not sure maybe a pet job lol because i know there a few people out there who one a DRG with pet.
it could so work out if done right only if SE can do it right if not it may fail. Then again anything they could come up with could fail so it just a matter how great the system is.

I'm not a game FF14 Dev, so who knows what they have up their sleeves. We have yet to see what jobs do in ARR. They could be just like 1.0 or totally different, we have no idea. So, I hate to say it, wait and see.In theory it sounds like a cool idea, it just seems like the job system would have to be revamped to support more versatility.
What would be the main difference between MNK and PUP? A pet and a few different abilities? Are 5 abilities enough to distinguish them?
If this were to happen I would hope to see more job specific abilities to give each separate job path a distinguished role from the base class, rather than just a HQ class.

Forum Lurker Extraordinaire.
Like a good stalker, I'm always there.
I just had a thought.
Have SE themselves ever actually drawn a class/job connection between summoner and arcanist, OR WAS THAT JUST US!?!?
Because if there is an option of having arcanist > scholar, plus xxxxx > summoner, that would be worth considering.
If anyone can debunk this idea on me with evidence, please blast away! >_<
I guess the pic of Arcanist with Carby. If Arcanist -> Scholar, would Scholar keep Carby? Would the class associated with Summoner have a pet?I just had a thought.

I was going to say "The anniversary talk they did said that ACN will be able to summon Carbuncle, but SMN won't be able to and instead will have access to elemental primals" as 'evidence' of you being wrong...I just had a thought.

But it could be that SMN won't be able to access Carbuncle because it belongs to a class which isn't its own >.>
The SMN artwork does show Ifrit being summoned from the pages of a Grimoire however.

Looked up the reveal thread for Arcanist and Summoner.
Sounds like they implied it saying that Summoner would have more powerful pet actions compared to Arcanist but nothing specifically stating it, an interview i read only mentions Arcanist and didn't mention Summoner at all. On the official site it doesn't mention the significance of the book to Summoner whatsoever. I spent some time googling around and couldn't find anything from Yoshi or SE themselves that specifically stated they were tied together so /shrugs. Maybe i missed something? It will be a surprise if Arcanist turns out to be unrelated to Summoner though.

And here's the talk where they "announced" it:
They don't exactly say that they follow on from eachother, but that's only if you're being pedantic =b I'm pretty sure they're together!
Evoker > Summoner?
Arcanist > Scholar?
