To be honest, I'm hoping they'll just let him be, though. It's kind of like Louisoix... if we were to in the future learn via echo that some currently alive and important character had dealings with them that we never knew about, that would be an ermahgerds moment... but I think there's more to be preserved by leaving it alone than there is to be gained by going back for more.
This is entirely different reasoning than Lou, however. In his case it was all about the sacrifice; in this case it's all about the ambiguity. There's just enough to get a good view of who he might have been and why he might have acted, and I think we all have a slightly different view of it. Going back to answer too many unanswered questions might change the whole meaning he has to some of us, or even make us like him less.
I just hope they tread carefully and don't burn him out. He was a great villain.

But Moose! we haven't had the reunion of the lambs of dalamud yet =o
My guess is we will see a facsimile of Nael or two at some point like in the labyrinth and get to fight him that way and maybe a restless spirit becoming Omega.
The odd thing is that under key enemies he's not just listed, he's spoken about as though he's currently alive.
And of course the whole thing is written in the present tense. At first I just assumed it hadn't yet been updated, until I actually read the whole thing and realized in the second paragraph:Originally Posted by Official Site

The events which transpired between the first version of XIV and ARR are referred to in the past tense. So, either it's only half updated, or there's more to it than just giving new players some back story on his role in the v1 story. It certainly makes him sound alive and well.Originally Posted by Official Site

Based on the "He's dead." in interviews, I'm praying this is just an oversight.
In other news, I went back and looked closer at that Gaius/Ultima/Omega thing and, looking at it up close for the first time, it very clearly is a machine. I'm curious to see where this goes... did they just build a badass machine in Garlean image, or did they turn Gaius? He cooperated with the Eorzeans to take down van Darnus, betrayed the enemy position to the Alliance... he obviously cannot be unconditionally trusted. Perhaps he'll be turned into something a little more controllable for his disobedience... and just to drag my ongoing Alexander theory into the ring... perhaps he's an early prototype...
Then again, perhaps the Garleans aren't involved at all... Allag magiteknology?
Whatever the case, I sure hope they notice how funny it's going to be if it turns out to Garlean with Greek letters. Though, if you use it as an adjective it'll still line up, I guess. Arma Ultima? Arma Omega?

Magitec suit, maybe? His armour is already mechanised to a degree. It wouldn't be an extroadinary leap of the imagination.Based on the "He's dead." in interviews, I'm praying this is just an oversight.
