Hmmm, I think it's true that the basis of the games are different. TERA isn't about grind for reward, whereas FFXIV is. However, despite that difference, FFXIV can still take over some of the fundamental concepts behind TERA when implementing new ideas.

One of the things talked about with FFXIV is the combat system. Yoshi intends to alter that and it might be a good time to look at what TERA did. TERA's philosophy was to keep the players focussed on the center of the screen, rather than at health bars, stamina bars, etc., all the things which one usually looks at when fighting rather than the actual fight. So it was in that way that they created a more frenetic type battle. I don't want FFXIV to lose its character, but I just hope they step away from the menu-esque micromanaging type system.

I know they won't, but it was simply a hope of mine. And im sure nobody else wants it so Ill leave it at that.

Anyway, another thing SE has mentioned introducing are player/public companies. TERA has a political system and I think giving players in FFXIV something akin to this might be an interesting addition and an ultimate goal for the biggest and most organised companies.

Earlier I talked about fundamental concepts. The battle system in TERA is based around a more isntinctive as opposed to micromanaging/mathematical system. THe political system seeks to give players some freedom/power. And those are concepts which FFXIV can bring over without harming their sacred identity.
