Surely no one is suggesting that the primals are actually the Twelve but in a more corrupted/insane/savage state... right? That maybe through some mix-up in history/theology that we are in fact followers of the same entities the beastman tribes are and that might be why Ifrit makes a statement about us following another primal (when in fact to us it would be one of the Twelve).

maybe the symbols belong to some sort of puzzle related to the primals they represent the primals element in a similar way.

Uh oh, lore train goin' off the tracks! Before this one goes too far in the wrong direction - some corrections. Just as all of the city-states have flags, so too do the beastmen tribes.

    Amalj'aa, Ixal, Kobold, Sylph, Sahagin

The Kobold is wielding a Thunderstorm Axe.

Well, calling it the Thunderstorm Axe explains the symbol better, but if you want lore-compliance... perhaps it's the

    LOMINSAN WAR AXE

Go-go Reskins! Not like a sylph could lift that thing anyway, it'd just be going to waste.

Yeah, but those staves have multiple versions - why pick one with Oschon or Llymlaen's symbol?

No idea! I was just trying to prevent the thread from being derailed by misinterpreting beastmen flags and weapon DATs. I have absolutely no idea why the Ixal would have what are seemingly Sharlayan staffs marked with what are undoubtably symbols of the Twelve. Even if the Ixal didn't know, you'd think Garuda would be pissed.

And she's crazy! You don't want to see her pissed off.

((Aside: This picture shows the same symbol on a staff in the battle for hyrstmill, so this is a 1.x remnant as well.))

Ah, thanks Moose. I never played on MRD, but I'm pretty sure that Axes were large, two-handed weapons. How in the world are the Kobolds able to wield them one-handedly, then? Maybe I'm thinking about it too much.
