I just think the in-game evidence is tenuous at best right now. After all, they apparently didn't even alter pints to a new term. So make that question mark really really big.

I think it would depend on the context in which onze is being used. Fluid ounce is a measure of volume. A plain old ounce is a measure of weight. Letters sent through the post office in the US are measured in ounces. Something like Robitussin is measured in fluid ounces.

Edit: Also after reading a bit on a wiki page about fluid ounces (just to make sure I wasn't giving an inaccurate statement about fl. oz being a volumetric measurement) pint is also something used in both the metric (imperial) and US measurement systems.
