How much Bandwidth does FFXIV use?

I am thinking of moving rural this summer but I want to play FFXIV! My only choice would be to use 3g er.. 4g? internet from a phone company that supplies a modem. So that would mean paying for a "plan" with set bandwidth. Please tell me your best estimates, how much bandwidth does FFXIV use? Thank you for your time.

I would be more concerned about latency and packet loss than bandwidth if I were you.

I tested it with my 3g cellphone, and I was averaging about 8mb/hr.

Fully functional.

all games are the same and just update simple info you not streaming the game so bandwidth is nothing you tube will eat up tons more bandwidth.

i posted this with version one last year. just alittle over one hour of use on FFXIV
notice its in Kilo Bits. 14MB or so rounding up on a 30Mbps connection in one hour.

Just connect to the American servers for the best latency.

Really, your main concern bandwidth-wise will be the initial download/install, major patches and the possibility of needing to re-install for whatever reason.

I live rural too, and my only options were either satellite providers or a poor 512K.
Satellite ISPs will allow you a higher speed, but a latency averaging 700-1000ms.
I played like this for 2 years, but it's clearly not the best thing to do (Ifrit extreme was impossible for me).

I tried the 512K, and honnestly, I have ZERO problem.
The game runs smoothly, no lag or latency detected. The only problem being the time needed for big patches, but well... let the download run a full night and play the day after, not that much of a deal...
I know some LS partners use the 3G/4G technology as well, so you shouldn't have any trouble.
