    I don't see why they need merit points...when you hit 10+ you get bonus points to add to stats on top of stat boost gained by lvl...so Merits would be over doing it unless its to gain skills outside the normal lvling and job quest lines..other then that no its not needed

    You do realize merits also enhance things beyond base attributes, right?

    yeah its using a fail system like a gimped modern mmo, still no reason you have to grind at cap to get new skills. back at version 1 launch we were able to gain new skills with guild marks thats still better then grinding 10000 mobs or quest.

    FFXI merits aint a big deal you can hit lv99 in 1-2 days shows how broken that xp system became.
