Psst. Kagato. Doesn't matter how crazy a murderer someone is. Hawt is still hawt.
Risk death by masamune impalement? You bet. I'd risk a lot more to get a shot at glomping Sephiroth. I don't think you'd understand anyway. It's a fangirl thang. lol
Personally I wish they wouldn't include a programmed marriage system at all. I think it should just be roleplayed, so that you can carry it out however you want.
people full of excuses, SE is making the game they can add anything they want to. there not using rpg maker to make this game after all.
adding visble text anywhere in the game is simple as hell no matter what programming language you use, updating the names on the DB also nothing since they already have it done with the regular names. it just a matter if they want to do it or not.

agree even in 1.0 there was a way to change your name. I know a guy who just delete his char goes to chat support and get his char back within 3m. Then when he pick his char it ask for him to change his name he does and enter the game again. The only risk is when they no longer want to get your char back for doing it to many times lol.people full of excuses, SE is making the game they can add anything they want to. there not using rpg maker to make this game after all.

so if 1.0 had that then they could simple change your name when they feel like it.

There's this thing called a priority list. Even things we think someone could do in 5 minutes can't be done in 5 minutes because everything needs to be checked, re checked, added to the build, have the new build verified to make sure feature was implemented correctly and didnt cause any new bugs, if new bugs are caused, send the build back, fix the bugs, make a new one, etc....people full of excuses, SE is making the game they can add anything they want to. there not using rpg maker to make this game after all.

There's a lot of red tape that goes into updating even a far less complex piece of software compared to an MMORPG. People who develop business software for banks and corporations have a much easier job for much more pay, if you didn't know.
They probably have a task and verificaiton list 100s if not 1000s of pages long. It takes time to get through even the most mundane of issues.
A new system element etc would still need to be developed to process these name changes in a proper manner without the command/oversight of a GM- that is, there's no automatic mechanism to do it, a GM punches in a command to do it.agree even in 1.0 there was a way to change your name. There is still work that would need to be done and the fact remains a marriage system isn't even in the game yet (nor do I want there to be, though we know it will happen eventually).

Nope, you will be stuck with it after the divorce!![]()
This is very true, hence why my OP was a question. The reality is either the marriage system will be handled by GMs like in XI, in which case GMs already have the tools to initiate a name change, which would mean no additional engineering cost.
Or, it will be done procedurally, and whether or not they plan to allow name changes with marriage ever, they would include the flag then. Because the entire marriage system would have to be tested regardless, and it's such a small sub-task that it doesn't make any sense to punt it.
Regardless, I just want an answer from the dev team whether or not its planned to be included with marriage or not. It's not a question of whether or not it's too hard to do, it's a question of whether or not they care/wish to give us the option.
Do you prefer a resume or should we just connect on LinkedIn?

It would be hilarious if you have to do a quest to get your old last name back.
Wife: Hey, we are divorcing I am gonna do that quest now. Bye.
...5 mins later...
Wife: Dammit, I have to be rank 5 to start that quest! Ugh!
Anyways, the only reason why marriage should not be included is cause of every thread about in-game marriage is being abused by SSM activists. This thread doesn't look like it which is good in my opinion I guess.
In before gay people come here and want to kill this thread!
I'm not even going to touch this, but you do realize that you are calling attention to it yourself, right?
Anyway, as far as changing your name back, just force people to do paid name change. If you go through the trouble of getting married in game and want it undone, it's not their responsibility to baby you. In XI you could never remarry.
