Just in case, I went through all five quests in all four languages. From what I can tell, I think "the dragon within" is just the stylistic choice made to fulfill the English version's need of a way to conceptualize the behavioral traits and inner state-of-mind one develops in awakening the dragoon soul crystal.

The other languages make no reference to an inner dragon so much as obtaining "the power of the dragon," which leads me to believe that, while the dragon knight orders think of themselves as sophisticated and valorous, they are still quite, for lack of a better word, spiritually savage.

The dragons are great beasts to be feared, wily and intelligent as they are brutal and capable opponents. To defeat this opponent is to awaken the same traits within and overcome the challenger; the same way tribal warriors awaken their inner lions and bears to overcome their aggressors.

So it's basically a figure of speech. Huh, would've been cool if they actually did something with it, maybe use it in some kind of side quest or have it have some actually kind of lore behind it.

Well I guess it's better then getting no answer at all, it was so ambiguous it got me curious. Thanks. ^^
