Magitek-exclusive content ideas?

Inspired by a number of discussions like this.

It would be very difficult to feature mounted battles on every field. Therefore, instead of creating mediocre content for every area, we would like to make these battles special. This will be far ahead in the future, but if we were to implement mounted battles, we would like to make this specialized content. This way we can focus our resources to create the most interesting and optimized content.

More wishful thinking than anything...

Now that we have the mount, it would be a waste not to be able to fight in them. Would love to see some actual combat usage out of them down the road. They look quite impressive, and would be a shame if they just end up being another piece of decorative bicycle that people would just swap out for some other new mounts later on.

Yeah, due to the implied extra power these machines would wield, it would be extremely imbalancing if they were capable as a combat tool side by side with unmounted players, lol.

We are creating them so that they can be customized and colored. We are also thinking about implementing content involving playing with both chocobos and magitek.

They are thinking about it, so this is a good opportunity to brainstorm ideas.

That said, one idea someone else had suggested was a dungeon much like the VI Magitek Factory, where top secret bioweapons were being researched (espers).


A way it could maybe work:

The only viable entrance could perhaps be via a large Sewer/chemical outlet pipe, and the acidic compounds it is spewing will eat through anything but adamantium, which happens to be smelted into the steel feet of these mounts.

I would love to hear other ideas people may have in content ONLY Magitek mounted players could access.

Similarly, Chocobo-exclusive mounted content could be in this list of ideas. (like racing, etc)

We break into a Garlean factory in Coerthas to investigate or stop their research, where we end up fighting Biggs and Wedge. To escape, we steal Magitek armors and escape in grand battle/cutscene style wtih some homage to the snow scene in FFVI as we traverse back through the snow. Biggs and Wedge then get demoted for this failure and become recurring comedic bad guys obsessed with taking you down. We then acquire the new mounts from this.

I can imagine Magitek being a bit different than other mounts in that it's slower, has higher defense and maybe can only be used in certain places. Using it to cross acid/chemicals is an interesting idea. Only certain weather like blizzards is another.

If we have giant instanced battles that can only be fought on mounts, it would be interesting if different strategies comes into play in the ratio of chocobos/magitek we use.

At very least I'm hoping the jump is very robotic and has steam come out and it makes a robot noise. I hope there's some special vanity actions like shoot missiles or lasers (Fire Beam, Ice Beam, Magitek Missile all from FFVI). My biggest awesome moment would be a team game: Chocobos vs Magitek. Something like polo with mounts.
