in all fairness they said they were rehauling the battle system, what if making the effects bigger is just the first step, shouldn't we be excited theuyre beginning?

Now I'm not white knighting here just being a realist, they're 14 hours ahead of us. When that was posted it was evening in japan right? So we probably wouldn't get an answer until tomorrow morning at the earliest. So instead of everybody screaming omfg why are they just doing that? They didn't post it in a question form. Let me start:
Dear Mr. Moderator can you please clarify if this is all the Dev Team plans on doing for battle animations? Or can we expect more changes in the future?
Magic and attacks in FFXIV are just generally worthless.
Why does everything pretty much do the same thing? Blizzard, Fire, Thunder, Water etc etc. They all just do the same stupid thing but with different elemental stats.
Everything in FFXIV battle system is about stats - balancing math and stats.
Changing animations is only half the problem, the biggest factor is changing what spells actually do.

"Umad?" Is that all you can say?
So original.
Anyway, SE is notorious for working as slow as humanly possible so I wouldn't be surprised if the battle system was what I predicted. And it takes more than three months to make a good battle system even for a talented design team.
