Name change? Is it happening?

If I may ask what will happen to the lodestone pages if our names change in respect of things like v1 achievments?

Will it say something like Joe smith (formerly Joe Bloggs) on the character sheet and retain old names on v1 achieves or will they all change as well.

It's nothing hugely major really just a couple of friends and I were on about making some proper in depth back stories to our characters in a proper sort of rp style for a bit of fun.

would we have to make up story for our name change sort of say, Joe Bloggs witnessed a robbery at the residence of Hildebrand and is now residing in eorzean witness protection unter a new identity.. or something similar.

with a little extra thought though I think it'd sort of be nice if I changed my name for old friends who left early in 1.0 to be able to find me if they came back.

but then again I can probably imagine a few people wouldn't want to be found. your old servers famous loot ninjas or whatever. so I can see it being a rather "tricky" issue.

I too am interested, if just to know how it'll work. I also hope there is a 'return to saved data' feature for re-customizing our characters' appearances. I am always scared to tweak options in a character creator after the fact if I'm not totally sure that I can hit a button to get me back to the EXACT setup that I began with, stored on servers, before I started tweaking. Sometimes I can't remember what I looked like at the beginning lol.

It will put you in character creation with your character set up the way it was before, so that you can tweak from there.

It's not going to say "Joe, the adventurer as Prince" or anything like that. It's just going to show the name you put in.

1 of 2 things will happen in terms of the lodestone history:

1) The use of your name in the history is like a variable of sorts and plugs your name in at page generation, in which case it will display your new name.
2) the history stores the actual text rather than plugging in variables, in which case your name change probably wouldn't be reflected in the old history.

I know confirmation has been a long time coming on this one, and we're glad to finally detail how this will work! When you log into A Realm Reborn for the first time with your old character (specifically after phase 4), you will have the ability to redo any aspect of your character -- one time only. This includes the ability to change your name.

thanks its only fair since its a brand new game EVERYONE including ninja looters and other bad rep people deserve a second chance now if they screw up in the new game then thats fine blacklist them but until then its a brand new game give people a break. ive personally known a few that have 1 screw up so they should be screwed for a whole new game because of it?
