    [dev1037] Spell Size Incremental to Spell Level.

    Instead of making EVERYTHING 1.5 to 2x bigger, I think it would be cool to play around with seeing higher level spells being bigger, so say, Fire could be a little bigger, sure, but Fire II should be HUUGE, and when Fire III finally rolls out, it gets even bigger. This might already be fully implemented, but I have yet to notice it, I main glad, but for example, I don't see much of a difference when I use Red Lotus as opposed to Red Lotus II, a bigger change and to feel like I'm doing more damage would be great.

    I just hope to everything good that size isn't the only thing they have planned to change when they say "revamp of battle mechanics" because that will leave me very dissappointed. I will also state that the effects for spells and actions on FFXIV are very boring and dull compaired to FFXI and this is what really needs correction.

    Here is my list of Conjurer Spells I want bigger effects and maybe increase the damage rate more than the conjurer spells such as fire/blizzard/thunder. These supposed to be "Ancient Magic Spells" are currently not beneficial IMO due to its weaker damage rate and longer cast times compared to the standard Fire/Blizzard/Thunder conjurer spells.

    Flare, Freeze, Tornado, Quake, Burst & Flood

    Now another way that I could think of fixing this issue is maybe add a second tier or even up to 3rd tier to these "Ancient Magic Spells" so that Conjurers have something to look forward to on PS3 release should SE increase the Job Rank levels. I would also like to suggest that these spells damage rate should be based on AOE attacks meaning if a Conjurer uses these spells with AOE turned ON, these spells should do GREATER damage than if AOE is OFF and also keep the longer recast time and maybe use a tad more mp than the Fire/Blizzard/Thunder spells. I think this way it would help differentiate it from the standard Thunder/Fire/Blizzard spells. Also this will enable the Conjurers to play smarter and be more tactical about using spells. Here are some of the scenarios I can think of to paint this tactics idea.

    Scenario 1
    Conjurer VS Doblyns (solo mode) – Conjurer should use Thunder/Fire/Blizzard spells (any tier) because recast timer is shorter or maybe open up with a Flare with AOE turned OFF + Blood Rite and have stygian spikes on and continue with Thunder/Fire/Blizzard spells.

    Scenario 2
    Conjurer on r40 Broken Water leves (party mode) – Conjurer wants to play Blackmage and be backup heal if another Conjurer or THM is on the party to main heal. Conjurer should use Flare, Freeze, Tornado, Quake, Burst & Flood (obviously not all at the same time) with AOE turned ON to have more damage output against multiple enemies or with AOE turned OFF if fighting one mob.

    Scenario 3
    Conjurer on NM battles (party mode) – Conjurer uses Flare, Freeze, Tornado, Quake, Burst & Flood (obviously not all at the same time) with AOE turned OFF.

    These are just sample scenarios where Conjurer can apply battle tactics to really be more effective depending on the battle situation. I’m sure that other players can create more battle ideas from these scenarios. I know most of you guys might not agree with the a bit more mp usage on Flare, Freeze, Tornado, Quake, Burst & Flood but again this is just to force the Conjurer to apply tactics and besides there are many ways to get mp anyways so I don’t think this is a big issue.

    The picture kind of scares me... It's not that they aren't big enough, but there isn't that much flavor to them. Not the final fantasy-eque we are used to but hey these are r1 and 24 spells. I mean I'm just curious what they are going to do with the melee skills mostly.

    Some do need more detail, but you have to admit, spell effects in general as well as effects such as provoke are pretty small. Because of this, they lack visual impact...so this is a good start. I'm not sure how most second, third, or fourth level spells look (or if they are even in game yet) but I dont think early level spells should look that strong (looking back on past FF games).

    agree, spell's efects are small, but more important is the boring spell animation =( thank you SE for working on that. also I want to see more pj movements in battle when launch an spell or using a phisical skill

    Come to think of it, the first dev team probably shouldn't have introduced the Flare/Burst/Flood etc spells at this time for Conjurers. These spells should've been implemented at a later date, maybe Rank 60 Conjurer spells and can only be obtained by doing quests or NM battles just like in FFXI. The first dev team should've focused with Fire, Fire II, Fire III concept instead so they can map out how these "ancient magic spells" can be implemented at higher level. But as we all know this didn't happen.

    My proposed idea is pretty much geared towards on one of many possible ways on how the current dev team can pick up the pieces from what I personally think was a mistake that the first dev team did in terms of the Flare/Burst/Flood etc spells. At the same time make it more exciting for Conjurers like myself in terms of really think on when and how to effectively nuke vs spam nuking.

    I miss the days in FFXI were blackmages/whitemages/red mages do orb runs or COP runs and strategize on nuking/healing/buffing/debuffing.

    How about letting them focus on fixing the effects for the spells first. I notice spells skipping cast animations and spell animations during heavy partying or intense action. Some actions and spells need to be redesinged from the ground up. Its nice that they wanna make the spells as big as the birds now but it still doesnt make up lackluster effort put into the spells and tp moves. Come on SE i wanna be blown away first then say it would look so cool if it was bigger.

    I rather have them fix the actual Nuke spells aka. Ancient Magic, they look & do pathetic damage.
