I posted this elsewhere, but it makes sense to post here too:

# Q27: How will the primal fights change in ARR?
# A27: They will be basically be the same as the fights in version 1.0. However, we will be making some minor tweaks based on the new battle system and the primals will have a larger role in the main scenario.

Note: This updated info is all thanks to Reinheart. Props to you, mate. (I have paraphrased slightly from the translation to help in the ease of reading.)

Foxclon:
How will the primal battles such as Ifrit, Moogle, and Garuda be in ARR?

Yoshida:
For those that played FFXIV before the 7th Umbral Era event, we imagine that the primal battles will operate much like back then, however this time it is part of the ARR main scenario, so the standing position and cut scene will be different. Also the skills they use are updated to the new battle mechanics in ARR, so it’s different. Say for Titan, Titan is new- there are many things, like the ground breaking through, flying, dropping. There are lots of ground gimmicks being used.

As the content gets updated, fewer people will play, so at that time we’ll have Ifrit show up in the public field, and like the benchmark demo, it will become a F.A.T.E., and from that point on people can defeat it to earn and use it as high-summon.

So the main points I see are:

* Primals are further embedded in the story, instead of merely as a GC ranking path or side quest.
* Once enough people outgrow their usefulness, a future patch will implement a public FATE version of the primals (previously they used the term "True Garuda" as an example.)

I am in full support of this logic in the content.
