1.0 CE letdown

Was very happy to see the following question answered in the Live Letter VI. It was relevant so i wanted to post here with the update.

Q21: Would you be able to provide us with more information on the ARR Collector's Edition?

A21: The Collector's Edition may come with some in-game items... Don't worry, we do have plans to do something for the 1.0 players that have purchased the original Collector's Edition!

There has been a lot of confusion and misinterpretation of what i was trying to get across. I'm updating the OP to reflect that, the original post will be hidden below for the archives.

Anyway I don't get this self entitlement crap people seem to feel just lately. You got what you paid for back then, if SE decide to give us guys the ARR CE In-game items I'd say we should be greatful tbh.

Expecting more than even that just cuz you bought the game way back when just shows your personal greed and self-entitlement issues tbh. And to be blunt, its not a pleasant trait to show the world!

Anyway, this was an old thread. I only wanted to do a quick update. All i was really hoping for is that Yoshi-P acknowledge the 1.0 CE owners, which he now has. I could care less what it is we get but its very nice to know he remembered us. Like most others, I will probably get a ARR CE for the PS3 for my son ho wants to play with me.

To expand on this I was thinking more for the situation where there is one person in the house that plays and bought the CE from 1.0. Now ARR comes out and he would like some of the bonuses from that package too but has no need for the extra Reg code. It would be nice if people were provided an option where they could purchase a digital upgrade to get the digital extras contained in the CE or even an option where they could upgrade to the physical extras without the extra codes.

I think people would be more than willing to pay a little extra for the new CE. If they did not decide to make any such offers I would not be bothered or upset. I do not feel entitled, I know I got what I payed for and I made use of it, I'm not eating an entire meal then complaining it was bad and asking for a new free meal. To continue that analogy I ate most of my meal then was told the chef has just updated the menu to include a desert with the meal I just purchased, I only want to upgrade my meal for the price of the desert and not have to buy the whole meal again just to get the desert. (what's with me and food analogies?)

As my above quoted post says, I will be purchasing the ARR CE anyway. This just means I wont have to steal my son's bonus item codes.

How many of you got the 1.0 CE and even at the time felt a little slighted, especially in North America. At least the guys over in Europe got a kewl and useful travel mug. The only thing I get any use out of from my CE is the Security Token.

Will the onion helmet be relevant and useful (or even transfer over) into 2.0? What was the point of the Certificate you had to send off for? Will anything from that have any bearing ingame?

This was the first CE I bought for any game and maybe its just not what I was expecting but I wonder if there will be anything come 2.0 to remind us why we got it way back then.

I guess one could argue that i got the opportunity to have the onion hat, a nice booklet of original art, a map, a certificate to really tell my RL friends how nerdy I am, and a secure account. As well as the memory of how terribly frustrating everything was, especially at the start. everything from the complicated, non-user-friendly payment option to the laggy and constantly crashing game.

Complaints aside, I am absolutely blown away with the leaps and bounds the game has made since then under the direction of Yoshi-P. He has breathed life into this world and the promise of things to come have me once again excited. I will be playing this in 2.0 but it would be really nice to have even a title that is only for the CE buyers back in 1.0 launch. something to say that we went through hell and are still here, something to differentiate us from someone who bought the game for $20 and still qualified for the Legacy campaign.

I dont want/expect much, just a little something to show that I have been here from the beginning.

I was actually wondering the same thing to be honest. I purchased the collectors edition as well and really it's kind of the norm for most Collectors Editions in that price range (was $60 for me).



I also received the certificate and have it hanging on my wall like a dork.



However I am curious if we collectors edition holders will have any special treatment in A Realm Reborn. For that matter will A Realm Reborn have a collectors edition for it as well? I would buy it in a heartbeat if it came with one of those 'I survived' t-shirts, or even an actual pewter and stained glass leve plate.

With levels being slower in 2.0, the CE low lvl stuff should b more useful

Europe Just got 2 extra things with their CE, what's so bad about that?

You got all the extras the people that only paid for the standard edition didn't. Not sure exactly what you're expecting. There are people that bought standard edition that have stuck with the game all the way through too; it's only a difference in a week of play time.

This is coming from someone that bought the CE. Yes, I feel like I paid $25 more for an equally crappy game at the time, but at least I got the security token and a few other goodies.

I guess.... i was just expecting a lot more in-game benefit rather than what i got in the box. looking at the CE benefits for other games (like GW2) they get exp bonuses, stat boosting items, etc. even if they just change the benefits from the onion helm and maybe the ability to dye the plume i would be happy.

Yeah the 1.0 CE was pretty horrible. I was most disappointed by the quality of the box compared to other CE's I've purchased. I would love some sort of a promotional manufacturing upgrade where we could pay manufacturing costs for a new CE, if there is one and then have it sent to us. I could care less about "effective" in game perks, however.

Sorry, i didnt know i was paying extra for a game that would be free to play due to the horrible problems they had for over a year and include all the company restructuring it came with or i would have held off and bought the 2.0 CE.
