    If the changes are the first step great, STATE IT as such. In the post they could write this is the first of many steps to improve the battle animations... As it stands now, it seems to me a quick fix and they are considering the matter resolved.

    The increased spell effects are nice and all, they don't make things worse by any means, however I agree with the others here who say that it needs to be part of a greater commitment, improving all the other effects as well. As a Lancer, I'm very disappointed by the lousy Weapon Skill animations, they are repeated, boring, and need improving. Same with most of the other classes. Using the same animation for most of my skills is just very uninspiring, and makes things very stale, very quickly. I hope the planned changed to battle mechanics include an overhaul of animations, especially for the current "ultimate" Weapon Skills. I also agree that the dev team really needs to communicate more information about planned changes. The fact that they are speaking with us at all is good, but we need to hear a lot of details, not simple little changes that don't mean squat on their own.

    Also, making certain effects bigger would make things worse, depending on what they are. An increase in side of the "wind" effect on Skewer II would just make it obnoxious.

    Well, i agree with PM1337. I myself came here exactly to make a topic asking what's up with making things bigger...

    Bigger and better are different things. I also agree that SE can take his time and do things better. Let us see the battle system first (not! I don't really wanna see it), let us have more basic features like a better search and stuff first...doing the fastest things first seens to be distorting the focus on primary issues of the game.

    Anyway...you guys have that youtube channel...instead of such minimal image you guys could add a video showing some spells with the new size, some skills that looked poorly animated (like maim...if the sparks from maim become more visible it would be good enough), etc...because i can't see GLA WS animations becoming better with just 50% bigger animation...

    Some people just won't be happy until they decide to redo all the skill effects. Every action in 14 was done through motion capture animation so everything is incredibly realistic in movement. I wouldn't mind if they added some crazy effects and all but who's going to pay for those acrobats to be recorded and those magic skill renovations until every skill in the game looks satisfactory before even balancing their powers. I say bigger is better as long as it's a good thing getting bigger. I'm sure this is all the result of the massive complaints on the forum from people expecting unbelievable and inhuman movements for every different skill in the game. The sheer number of skills in the game makes this unreasonable.

    lol will this "Crap" actually have any effect on the amount of Damage for example "Burst", "Flare" etc....?
    If not... whats the point? if anything looks awful & weak (my bad.. Pathetic) its the Nuke spells for conjurer.
    They look like crap & do crap damage. (atleast Burts, Flare, floodd etc...)

    Increasing their visual effect will not make any mage happy, we want Power with Style not, Gimp with Flare!

    We complain because of the lack of info. If SE makes a statement, as I said before, that this is only the first in many fixes. I would be more then happy with this subtle change. If SE said they are even considering changing some, not all, battle animations I would be ok with it. But they haven't. I am voicing my concern so SE is aware that simple fixes such as this is not a cure all but a minor fix until they can devote more time on it, in my eyes. Please do not forget that this is just my view on the subject and there is no RIGHT or WRONG view. I just wanted to start this thread to let SE know how we feel about these little changes so they can best make greater changes.

    I don't complain about the animation. The motion capture is perfect...what i mean is that, even though there's like 8~10 different sword swings if you count slash and stab, most of GLA animations use the very same swing motion. Also, GLA animations are terrible poor...you can't really disguise phalanx from spinstroke from howling vortex by just seeing the animation (or lack of it)...maybe just making them bigger fix it...maybe not...all i hope is that bigger animations don't generate even more lag.

    OBS: Fix the topic tag...the dev1037 needs to be at taglist and not at title.

    Dunno if you meant me in particular, however, I'm not saying re-do every single animation. The ones that are currently in the game, are great. But if getting people into a mocap studio to make new animations is what it takes to make the game feel better, then that's what it'll take.

    Many people aren't totally happy with current animations, according to one of the polls. Also, look at Luminous Spire for Gladiator. That's probably more unrealistic than anything I could possibly come up with for animations. Example, the last Lancer WS hits many times. I don't think it's unreasonable to have an animation similar to Penta Thrust from FFXI, where the character simply stabs with the lance 5 times. And they don't *have* to go back to a mocap studio for new animations, there is still the old fashioned way.

    In the end, it's not a game breaker for me by any means, if they don't add new animations, I'm still in this for the long haul.
