Great first step thank you so much.

Is that it? Will there be more improvements?

It's not that animations are to small to appreciate it's that most are recycled and disappointing to say the least. Will you be improving the effects in any other way? in a future update?

There had better be more just an FYI.

The animations were too small in addition to being a bit lackluster for final fantasy. This is a good first step, and maybe rather than redoing every low level particle effect they can focus on adding new spectacular ones? Compare baseline FFXI spells with ones added in the expansion--the first ones they added don't stand up too well now, but the most recent ones meet or exceed current particle effect expectations despite it being a PS2 games. I think increasing the size of the animations is a good first step, and like the mob size increase, allows me to actually see the insane amount of detail put into the graphics instead of squinting through the low resolution I have to run this game at.

However, good lord do people like to complain. The dev team has a massive undertaking ahead of it and they're working their butts off, but these things take time, especially with the graphical standard FFXIV has. They're trying to release things when they can in order to keep people interested, but no matter what they do everyone seems to complain. Because they have to redo basically everything gameplay related, it would be irresponsible to make up timelines that may not have any basis in reality, but the dev team has been quite good about communicating with us despite that. Certainly, it's 1000x better than the old FFXI days when you would have an easier time squeezing blood from a stone than getting a straight answer from them.

Chill out, enjoy the game as well as you can, and just take these little things as we get them in anticipation for the bigger changes that will take a while.

I just hope they go further into changing some of them, especially the AM's. This is a fun little tidbit since you couldn't ever see Stone I, only hear it. I'm just curious what they are going to do with melee skills.

And I don't think people really hate all these little changes, we just want more information! I check the lodestone every morning and night... I was a little sad that it wasn't a bigger or had more than one topics

I am for the battle animation size increase, as I enjoy the monster size increase that was implemented earlier. I think this will be a bonus to the fireworks in battle.

That being said lets hope its part of their previously mentioned small battle tweaks to prepare for the big changes. The lack luster battle animations people had been complaining about were not really about the size, but about the characters actual simple little swings, and casting animations around the caster. That kind of stuff is what people wanted to see change.

Ooooooh if only everything looked as cool as Arrow Helix. Now there is an animation they got right!

Very few of the spells really need an actual over haul in the effect of the animation. Stone being one of them. This is most likely the first of a few fixes to this, so let's not get our panties in an uproar assuming this will be the only change. You start with quick fixes to tide things over before you jump in with complete redesigns.

But you have to admit, one of the problems with the animations in general was that they were tiny and hard to see most of the time. But I would like to see some overhauled like Provoke and Taunt, Murderous Intent, Blood Bath... But let's give this a shot before we get really ragy over it.

Unfortunately that's not how the internet seems to work. people can't live without screaming bloody murder as soon as something is announced that's not a be all, end all solution to all the problems of the game.

God forbid SE trying to improve the game without turning it into a 10/10 masterpiece in one fell swoop!

It isnt like that was the patch notes. It is just one more thing added to development. I am all for the increased size of effects.

Well some of the spell impacts are pretty detailed...just so small that it seems like they arent. Its a good start...but I really hope weapon skill animations will be a little more diverse as well (not the impacts, but the actual character animation).

I also like the increase in monster size, since it makes everything seem like true Final Fantasy monsters. Some of you complaining about marmot size, think back to past FF games or even just FFXI. Rabbits were MUCH larger than something you'd normally see, and therefore, counted as an actual monster. It really doesnt make sense for an adventurer to go about and stab something so small you could step on it....unless it's a swarm carnivorous bugs.

The increase in general non-humanoid monster size also allows everyone to see how intricately detailed the enemies are, so it's not like the current dev team just increased size for the sake of giving a quick fix. Every FF game has larger than normal wildlife.

I for one applaud SE for trying to impliment something simple that will make combat a bit more fun. That being said many people in the community, myself included, would like to see brand new spell animations and battle effects. The spells in past FF titles from many years ago are light years ahead of most of the spell effects in FFXIV, FFXI in particular has some amazing ones. Also not to be left out but weapon skills also need a serious overhaul. I almost crapped myself when I first used Raging Fist and again with Asuran fists and many other awesome looking weapon skills, nothing in FFXIV has given me that feel even once, and it saddens me as a player and FF fan in general. I think SE could put the communities mind at ease if we knew that this was just a hold over while you work out the new Battle system but that new effects will be coming at some point in the future. Thank you.
