People really dislike immersion and "having to wait" in MMORPGs these days and sadly all you're doing while on an Airship or Boat is "waiting" while taking in beautiful scenery. There's no room for that in a 2013 MMO!

Well, the boat is going to be the same as it was in 1.0 (according to them), which you had to wait for. I just don't understand why we can't have the airship function the same way! It's not like it would have to load the whole world...just a smaller version just for the airship ride!

It's about priorities. Creating a unique zone of open world "graphics" is not good use of their resources atm when that's all it is. Just fluff that would most likely take a month or 2 to get just right. Things like boat trips and airship rides which actually take time to go through, actually take time to make. It's not as easy to make as you might think and it's not a luxury they have to make at this point in time. They have more important things to worry about that focus more on the content of the game rather than creating wide open but zones empty of any game content.

I for one do miss them . I felt like a little child the first time I rode my character on a boat and airship. Especially with the nice tune playing in the background.

40 minutes? it was actually 5-10 minutes about..

and yeah i think it could have been funny to fill these boat rides with some sea battles or even quests, missions or events. on the other hand nobody will use it, because of teleporting via Gil.

by the way i loved when the ghost ship appears in FFXI

They could always put an NPC on the method of transportation that lets you skip the boat ride duration!

Overall I'm disappointed that nothing useful was said about fishing, but wow that Limsa. I feel I can forgive them just this once for showing me my beautiful city.

Limsa is as beautiful as ever, and La Noscea looks a joy to wander.
