I often wonder if people who think like that also are disappointed in Chevrolet when they reveal the new Camero because it has 4 wheels.I'm sorry, but what other traits are you expecting, live rabbits to pop out of the screen? They set out to create an MMORPG, and didn't they already said a Gold Saucer like area is in the works? not to mention PvP. What is it you want SE to add that would fit the MMORPG they intend to make?
"Oh rift has this", "Wow has that" These lines are so tired.
I have a secret to tell. From my electrical well. It's a simple message and I'm leaving out the whistles and bells. So the room must listen to me Filibuster vigilantly. My name is blue canary one note* spelled l-i-t-e. My story's infinite Like the Longines Symphonette it doesn't rest- TMBG Birdhouse in your Soul
A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!
^^
Finally, it's been said! I mean, it's gotten to the point where people would call an mmo a WoW clone or copy paste if you use a keyboard and mouse to play it.
It's not whether or not it brings anything super-dee-duper new or unseen by anyone, it's whether or not the game is successful in what it does bring. People are excited for the housing features, the FATEs, the summoning class, and everything else ARR is bringing to the game. And rightly so, from what I've seen, it looks great. All of these nice features coupled with the fact that it's a Final Fantasy game, and imo you've got a winning combination. The "nothing new" finger pointing is so, well, pointless. lol
I actually agree, to a point, that there is not much in the way of a "key gimick" in FFXIV ARR, and I quite love the way ARR is shaping up. It does sort of feel color by number. At the same time, that coloring has a lot of polish and nuance.
I believe that it is going to come down to a gamble and a question: Can the dev team pump out high quality story and content fast enough to keep fickle players interested in this MMO as opposed to the other 7 mechanically similar if not identical MMOs. Personally, I don't worry about the Story beyond the first patch. What worries me is the content at release.
We already know that content at release is going to be relatively limited. A lot of stuff is "coming in the first patch". In essense, the dev team is going to be gambling on the content they have to keep new players around until the "real" content can be released. I have high hopes, but only time will tell, and I don't blame people for getting a little worried.
Well, when you put it that way, they will have to be as quick with interesting content as possible to keep people hooked. I think their main draw will be story content. They're gonna have to pump the story with lots of vitamins and exercise to keep it strong, if you know what I mean. That first patch better come soon.I actually agree, to a point, that there is not much in the way of a "key gimick" in FFXIV ARR, and I quite love the way ARR is shaping up. Yeah, I guess the point I'm trying to make is: maybe everyone should stop calling them WoW clones, or copy pasted games, and just accept that MMOs finally have matured into a distinct genre. The downside to that is that, unlike the MMOs of old, every MMO is competing with every other MMO. That's why Modern Warfare and Battlefield are said to be competing so much. As mechanically similar games, they persue the same audience.
What sets MMOs appart is that rather than profiting from fickle players (in a FPS, if the player switches games constantly, it actually means more money for the company), it's a huge detriment.
I don't think there's a ton to worry about, but a few comments.
Yoshi saying "nothing's changed" really isn't significant. We've seen lots of people say this in the past during mix-ups only for everything to change.
Square has dumped loads of money into FF14. They are fully committed at this point and only have a small ways to go. I don't think 14's funding will be scrapped.
Some anon. comments recently criticizing Wada were about his management beliefs. Basically he was inefficient at getting projects to run smoothly, so a lot of what happens could be people reshuffling and structural reorganization.
I have no idea what kinds of projects will be cut. A lot of their mobile titles are ridiculed.
Momo Ochita From Ragnarok
Wada will still be working in the company, but it doesn't say where.
Speculation time!
I think he's gonna stay on as Cheif PVP Guy in FFXIV.
